Fostering Kindness and Addressing Conflict in Our School Community

At Francis Greenway High School, we are proud to foster a positive and inclusive environment where every member of our school community feels valued, safe, and supported. This term, we want to emphasise the importance of kindness and managing conflict in alignment with the NSW Department of Education's Student Behaviour Code.

The Power of Kindness

Kindness is at the heart of a thriving school community. It can be as simple as offering a helping hand, including others in conversation, or showing respect for the diverse backgrounds and perspectives within our school. These small acts create a ripple effect, promoting positive relationships and reducing incidents of conflict. We encourage students to think about how they can contribute to a culture of kindness every day.

Dealing with Conflict

Conflict is a natural part of life, but how we manage it is what truly matters. At Francis Greenway High School, we teach our students the skills they need to handle disagreements constructively. By actively listening, empathising with others, and seeking resolution through communication, students can turn challenging situations into opportunities for personal growth. If conflicts arise, we ask that students reach out to their teachers, year advisors or deputy principals, who are here to guide them through the process. Together, we can create a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

Our Shared Responsibility

Building a positive school culture is a shared responsibility. Let’s work together to instil kindness, empathy, and respect in our students, helping them grow into compassionate and resilient individuals.

Thank you for your ongoing support in making Francis Greenway High School a place where kindness thrives, conflicts are resolved with care, and every student feels safe and valued.

Warm regards
