SOVEREIGN HILL- Yr 5/6 CAMP
Navkirat | An Adventurous Journey The camp experience at Sovereign Hill, Ballarat was amazing! This was definitely the best camp I have ever been to. The activities were so fun the best activity was the mine tour and the Aura show. The food was mouth-watering and the beds were as soft as a cloud. It was truly an amazing experience with my friends. -Navkirat |
Carol | A RECOLLECTION OF THE PAST The time at Sovereign Hill was amazing, we did fun activities like gold panning, the mine tour etc. The food was gourmet and the rooms we were in were better than my own room! But I personally think the best part was spending time with my friends and having a good time. -Carol |
Seth | Sovereign Hill was truly an amazing experience. The activities were fun, the food was delicious and the places were spectacular. When I went there it felt like I had been in a place where time was paused for 200 years. I really recommend going for a trip with your family as it truly is a blast from the past. - Seth.D |
Jesse | A dive into the gold rush Our Sovereign hill experience was one like no other. There were mines that went down 90 feet down into the ground, a museum with artifacts from a battle that happened 150 years ago and some of us even found gold! I felt like we had leaped into the 1800’s and was immersed in wonder in every corner I went down. Yet, none of this could beat spending time with my friends.

Norah | Camping in Sovereign Hill My first camp at Sovereign Hill was the best experience I ever had. I think the best thing was the cabins. They had heaters and they were cosy and nice. The food tasted like it was from a five star restaurant, and the camp adventure was really fun. Norah |
Jeremiah | The best part of the camp to Sovereign Hill was the Light Show. For one part we wore 3D glasses and we were immersed in a virtual reality world. The dinners were really delicious and gave us energy for activities such as gold panning and experiencing 90 seconds of darkness whilst we went down into a mine. |
Belinda | Time traveling It was a 2-hour bus ride to Sovereign Hill, but when we stepped out of the bus into the cold breeze of Sovereign Hill we knew a huge adventure was awaiting us! We explored mines, we found gold and don’t get me started on the beds, pillows were soft as marshmallows! I loved all the food, but I did miss home-cooked meals. The town smelled like sweet candy mixed with the chilly wind, with the fun times and laughter in the air. I came home, my real home with my family. Belinda |
Jane | A blast into the past. It felt like we travelled into the past when we went to Sovereign Hills, a place of adventure. People were dressed up in the clothes that they would wear at that time, they were so pretty. It really smelt like the past, it tasted like the past, yum, in fact, it felt like we were actually in the past, we most definitely blasted into the past. It is a place to remember, forever. |
John | A Dive into the 1800s
I was finally here… BURSTING with excitement, it felt like we had leaped backwards in time, into the greatest camp of ALL, Sovereign Hill! We had so many fun activities to engage in, my ABSOLUTE favourite activity was the light show. It smelt like horse manure but also like an old area, we had lots of fun and laughs that will never be forgotten.

Daisy | A trip into the olden days! Going to Sovereign Hill for camp was the best experience ever! Travelling to the past was a blast and panning for gold felt pretty bold. Seeing the Aura light show at night made me feel very excited and bright. All the laughs with my friends made me wish camp would never end!

Eliza | Rush for the Gold Rush My second camp at Sovereign Hill was amazing. It felt like the bus was a time machine. This was definitely the best camp experience ever. It taught me things I never knew about. The staff dressed as if they were from the Gold Rush times. We went into the mines, we went gold panning and to the aura show. This camp is worth remembering. Eliza |
Zara | Fun Times The camp was the best experience, the food was delicious, at Sovereign Hill. I really thought I was in the 1800s. The best part was the Aura show, it was really cool how the screen folded back and we were outside. It was surprising how lots of people were dressed up in cool clothes. It might just be me, but I would highly recommend going back to Sovereign Hill. Zara |
