National Reconciliation Week

On Wednesday, 3 June, our school community united to honour National Reconciliation Week with a heartfelt and inspiring student-led assembly. The event showcased the passion and dedication of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, who played a central role in guiding the proceedings alongside Aunty Karen, whose wisdom and support enriched the experience for everyone involved.

Following the assembly, we enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea thoughtfully prepared by Mr. Truss and his Year 12 cookery class. The menu featured a range of delicious dishes incorporating native Australian ingredients, offering a unique culinary celebration of our rich cultural heritage.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. Johnson and Ms. Garden for their outstanding leadership in coordinating such a meaningful assembly, as well as to all students who contributed to making the day so powerful and memorable. This special event provided an important opportunity to reflect, learn, and strengthen our commitment to reconciliation within our community.

SistaSpeak - Aboriginal Female Mentoring Program

On Tuesday 2 June, our junior Aboriginal girls participated in the Sista Speak mentoring program,  connecting to culture and community. Under the guidance of Aunty Carrine Liddell, they explored the rich history of Shellwork, learning how these beautiful pieces are crafted and the importance of passing this knowledge through generations.

The girls also enjoyed a special session with Avalon Pallier, focusing on skincare and wellbeing, they created their own lip scrubs using native ingredients. This program provides a safe place to come together and learn from our local Elders.
