During next week’s library literacy lessons, students will join children all around Australia in celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime through a shared reading of the 2026 featured book, “Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller" by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minton.

With its uniquely Australian setting, animal characters and exciting sporting theme, “Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller” is sure to appeal to many of our students, especially those who enjoy sport, teamwork and action-packed stories. Students will participate in a variety of engaging literacy activities inspired by the book and its themes. The story follows Luna Roo and her teammates as they work together, face challenges with courage and determination, and learn the importance of resilience, perseverance and believing in themselves. National Simultaneous Storytime is always a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of books, storytelling and reading together, while continuing to foster a love of reading in our students.

We encourage all students to continue borrowing regularly from our school library and to read widely at home from a variety of sources. Regular reading helps students build fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and confidence, while also developing a lifelong love of learning.

Students are also reminded to continue recording their reading for the Premier's Reading Challenge. Every book read contributes towards their challenge goal.

Happy reading, everyone!

Warm regards
