Wellbeing

This week, St Margaret Mary’s we are focusing on the character strength of bravery. Bravery is an important quality that helps us face challenges, stand up for what is right and try new things even when we may feel unsure or nervous. Acts of bravery can be seen in everyday moments—speaking kindly when others are not, asking for help when needed, showing resilience after setbacks or having the courage to include others.

Much like a light shining in the darkness, one brave action can inspire confidence and encouragement in those around us. When one person chooses courage, it often gives others the strength to do the same. These moments, whether big or small, help to build a supportive and compassionate community.

At the heart of true bravery is trust and faith. As a Catholic community, we look to Jesus as our greatest example of courage, always standing for truth, love and justice even in difficult times. Jesus teaches us that bravery is not about never being afraid, but about choosing to do what is right with kindness and faith in God. When we act bravely, we help create an environment where everyone feels safe, supported and encouraged to grow.

As part of our Bravery focus, students have brought home a lightbulb to contribute to our Bravery display on the LARC doors— ‘Brave choices build bright futures’.  This activity has been linked to the homework grid for students in Years 1–6. Students are invited to add a picture, word, sentence, idea or quote that reflects bravery in action. These items should be returned with homework on Monday, 1 June.

We hope families notice a little extra courage shining through at home this week. It is a wonderful reminder that bravery can be shown in many different ways each day. Together, let us continue to nurture and celebrate bravery within our school community.

Excursions

Just a reminder that any parent or carer wishing to assist on excursions must complete the Building Child Safe Communities Training. Once completed, parent/carer names are placed into a draw, with successful applicants being notified via email. You can access the Building Child Safe Communities Training here.
