PRAYER
Breathe in me O Holy Spirit
that my thoughts may all be holy;
Act in me O Holy Spirit
that my works, too, may be holy;
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit
that I love but what is holy;
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit
to defend that is holy;
Guard me then O Holy Spirit
that I always may be holy.
From the Principal
Dear Families,
At this time of the year the teachers are writing Semester One reports. Their accurate reporting will provide you with information of how your child/ren is progressing in his/her learning against the curriculum and what s/he needs to learn next. Reports will be distributed via PAM on Monday 22 June. You will have the opportunity to discuss your child/ren’s report at parent-teacher interviews on Wednesday 24 June. Bookings for interviews will open on PAM on Monday 8 June.

CROSS COUNTRY
Congratulations to Akhil, Christopher, Teddy, Dominic and Azelie who all represented St Philip’s with such enthusiasm and determination at the recent District Cross Country event at Ruffey Lake Park. These students worked incredibly hard in the weeks beforehand to master long distance running techniques and improve their time over the 2km course. We are very proud of their accomplishments.
Thank you to the 3/4 parents for their assistance in transporting the children on the day, we were most grateful for your help.
Yr 5/6 Camp
The Amazing Race
At Bayview Adventure Camp we did loads of activities and here is one of them. In the Amazing Race we were split up into two groups. My group was called the Wildlife Team. We were given a map which showed where the activities were around the campsite. We made squares with other shapes, we had to do charades and move a ping pong ball through tubes. The activity lasted an hour in total. It was so much fun.

Billy Carts
Billy carts are go carts without an engine, gravity is the engine. We went down a steep hill and had to avoid the ditches. If you went in a ditch, bad news you would be tumbling down the very steep hill! I went on the billy cart 8 times down the hill. When you got in the cart at the top of the hill we had to put the brake on. If we didn’t we would go rolling down the hill. To turn, you had to pull the rope on the left to go left and to go right you pull the right rope.

Feeding the Animals
Camp was excellent. My favourite activity was feeding the animals. We fed all sorts of animals; goats, sheep, cows and horses. We went to the sheep first, they were so fluffy. We fed them bread and they nibbled off our hands. Then we headed to the horses, they were my favourite animal. We fed them vegies. They were two ponies and two horses, they were so cute. Then we went to the goats, there were so many goats. My favourite one was called Cici. We got to feed them and groom them with the brush, it was fun. Then we fed the cows, they were fluffy cows, there were only two, one didn’t like carrots and one loved them! Once we finished we headed to the llamas, though we couldn’t feed them. Next to the llamas there was a camel, his name was Charlie, he was so rough so we couldn’t feed him. Once we finished I was upset to leave the animals but I knew there were more fun activities to come on camp.

Flying Fox
The grade 5 / 6 camp was amazing, we got to do many activities. One of my favourite things that we did was called the flying fox. The flying fox was a rope that stretched across a large field that slowly went higher. While one of us was strapped on to the rope the others had to pull a rope so the person on it could go upwards. After you have reached the end, or gone to the height that you prefer, you would let go of a rope that you hold tightly and the people who were pulling you would let go of the rope. You then feel that you are flying backwards and at speed. To make it more fun there was rain and it poured on us. Even though there was rain we still loved it. It was an experience I will not forget.

The Giant Swing
Have you heard of the Bayview Adventure Camp? Bayview Adventure Camp is the best camp for experiences. My Name is Riccardo and I will tell you about the Giant Swing. I went very high, even higher than on my 2nd try. You had to put on a harness. The people waiting had to pull us up. When you hear “Stop” you have to stop. The person on the swing has to say “Stop” and release the rope to go down. It was so fast, I flew through the air! It was the best 3 days of my life!!!

Radio Runabout
Wow! What fun we all had on Grade 5/6 camp at Bayview Adventure Camp! There was a huge range of amazing activities for the students to do. We all learnt new skills, tried different activities and stepped out of our comfort zone. On our second day, we all participated in an activity called ‘Radio Runabout’, where we used Walkie Talkies! There were three groups, one teacher group and two students groups. Each group was given a list of questions about landmarks in the campsite. We needed to use the map to run around to find each spot, then work out the answer to the question. We then used the Walkie Talkie to radio in our answers. It was a hectic time, racing against the other groups, running about everywhere and hearing the other groups on the walkie talkie getting their answers correct! It was a frantic finish to complete all of the questions and race back to the Homestead. In the end, the bragging rights went to the teachers who won in a very close finish! Yay the teachers! Everyone did so well working together as a team and having lots of fun!

Archery
Our last activity at the Bayview Adventure Camp was Archery. What a great way to end camp. I felt excited to have a go at professional archery for the first time. We first tried out the bow and arrows. Then Pat divided us into 2 groups for a game called “The Pizza Game”. I was with Rosie, Francis and Aria. We were competing with Aiyanna, Ricky, Raph and Matilda.
I shot first and I got dough.
Dough = white
Olives = black
Pepperoni = blue
Sauce = red
Cheese = yellow
Finally we played “In and out” where we shoot the target. The outer circle was white, then there was black, blue, red and yellow (A.K.A. Bullseye). On my fourth shot I hit a bullseye! We took a few pictures. Then it was lunch time; good, it was hotdogs! We left after that. Best camp ever !!!!
