Shine the Light

Foundation
Foundation students listened to the Bible story of Abraham and Sarah. They learnt that God asked Abraham and Sarah to leave their home and journey to a new place, trusting Him even though they did not know where they were going. Along their travels, Abraham built altars whenever they stopped as a way of thanking God and remembering His promises. To extend their learning, the children enjoyed creating their own altars in the sandpit, using natural materials to represent places of gratitude and remembrance. This hands-on experience helped them connect with the story and reflect on the importance of trust, thankfulness, and God's promises.
Year 1
This week, Year 1 students participated in a 'Craft Power' incursion as part of their Design and Technologies unit. Students created their own toy car designs using wood, hammers, and nails. The next step in the design process is to finish decorating the cars using permanent markers and then evaluate their designs. All students did an excellent job and thoroughly enjoyed the incursion!
Year 2
This term the Year 2 students have been learning about the Design Process through the lense of our history unit: Our Local History. We planned, designed and produced a model of a local landmark and then evaluated how we went in all stages of the process using a teacher and student rubric.
Year 3
In Mathematics, Year 3 ha been learning how to tell time to the nearest minute. Students have enjoyed using mini analogue clocks to make and read different times, helping them build confidence with both analogue and digital time.
Year 4
This week, we have been exploring capacity and mass using non-proportional models and a variety of measuring tools. It was fantastic to take our learning outdoors and deepen our understanding of capacity through a range of hands-on water experiments. The highlight for many students, however, was measuring the mass of each year level’s Blue Class bin and comparing the results in a column graph!
Year 5
In Mathematics, the Year 5's were learning to create and interpreting line graphs!
We had to plot the lines on our graph and answer questions.
Year 6
Year 6 have recently completed a writing task updating classic fables for a modern audience. For example, the Boy Who Cried Wolf, has become the girl who triggered the fire alarm one too many times. Students planned their fable, creating interesting settings and characters, while staying true to the moral of their original fable. Students could also create new covers for their fable and these are the wall of covers!
