Year 3 Sacrament of Reconciliation

Last week, I came to the Reconciliation Family Night with my mum. We had a lesson about what to do when we make our First Reconciliation. We each got a clipboard and worksheet to write on for the activity that we were going to do with Miss Lamanna. We had to write about three topics (connect, challenge and extend) about the Parable of The Lost Son. Connect was about coming together and what we can do to connect to others and the story. The challenge part was questions about the story that we had and extend part which was about what we have learnt. Miss Lamanna asked families to come together and talk about something we can do for the week that is showing kindness to others. We learnt about how we can improve being kind to others and Reconciliation is all about forgiveness.

Last week, we had the Year 3 Reconciliation Family Night. I liked that we got to sit next to our parents and our parents helped us. We listened and when the teacher told us to, we wrote on the worksheet that was on the clipboard. A part of that worksheet was about questions that you still had about the Prodigal Son. Reconciliation is about forgiving people even if they don’t deserve it. We learnt about what will happen when it is our turn. We are going to tell the priest about some sins that we have done and we will say sorry father that we have sinned. The priest will give us a task to do which is either a prayer or something you will actually do. This night helped me and told me what will happen in my Reconciliation and I learnt a lot.

On the Reconciliation Family Night, we read a story from the bible called the Prodigal Son. We had to write things down that we learnt about on a sheet of paper. We sat with our family and friends for the night. Reconciliation is all about forgiveness. In the story, the son did something bad and the dad forgave him anyway. This teaches me that if someone does something wrong, you can always forgive them.
