Year 6 Division Sport

Division Athletics
On Wednesday 7th of October, 14 students had the opportunity to compete in the Division Athletics Competition for 2026. We all did a great job and all deserved to be there. At 8:45am, we departed on the bus to go to Bill Sewart Athletics Track where we went to participate. Some students ran distances and participated in a relay race. Others participated in events like shot put, long jump, triple jump and hurdles. As the day went on, we saw great talent on display and we were very proud of our own personal achievements.
My personal experience at division athletics was AMAZING!!! I had so much fun spending time with friends and doing one of the things I love most, running!!! Even though I have been to this experience many times, I still enjoyed every bit of it. At 9:30am, I raced in the 1500 meters, going in pretty confident. Little did I know I was coming out with a place I am not too happy with, 5th. Even though 5th is still good, I still didn't feel like it was my best run and looking back on it, I personally could have done better. Later I did 800 meters and came out with a bit of a better result, 4th. Again, looking back on it I could have done better. At the end of the day I had so much fun and honestly as much as I would love going to regionals, I didn’t really want to make it for 1500 or 800 because the people in regional are sooooo good. And that was my day.

My personal experience at Division Athletics was amazing, I enjoyed the time with my friends and will forever hold this experience in my heart. On the day, I competed in two races, the 1500 meters and 800 meters. I was really happy with my performance. In the 1500 meters I came in 2nd place which means that I am able to make it to regional athletics. Though in the 800 meters I just missed out coming 3rd place. Though it wasn't the result I wanted, I still came out with a win.

We all had an AMAZING day and all had a lot of fun. Also Mrs Skoda said that we were the best behaved school there.

Division Basketball
On the 15th of October Term 4 Week 2, the Year 6 All Star Hoop Time boys team went to play in the division tournament as a result of winning the round robin medal. In our team we had Sacheth, William H, Luke, Lucas, Ignatius, William S, Marcus, Zachary, Leon and Joshua. In the morning, our games were at Nunawading Basketball Centre before 9:00am, while most of us got there by 8:50am. We had our warm up, then William S’ Dad put his hand up and he coached us for the day.
We had our first game at 10:00am. We faced Pinewood and it was a tough game but in the first quarter Pinewood got on a roll and scored a lot until the second quarter when Sacheth scored a 3 pointer to get our first 3 points. Then we were doing well and kept them to only 3 points in the 2nd half. The scores were 12:24.
Our second game was at 11:00am, where we faced Mount Waverley Primary School. We had to win that game to have a chance at making the finals to get into Regionals. We started off well, when the first half concluded, we were down by 2 points, the score was 8-6. In the second half, we went up 10-12 then they came back and scored 12 points to take the lead 22-12. Then at the end, Sacheth made a free throw and concluded the game 22-13. It was a tough battle but they had the size in the end that also didn't help us.
In our third game, we had to play against Huntingtower, who also had not won a game yet. We were dedicated to win this game since we wanted to be able to win one game at least. The game started with us taking a big lead, leading by 8 points in the first few minutes. Then we went back and forth and the score at half time was 8-15. When the second half started, they went on a roll and took the lead 15-16. We went back and forth some more and made the scores 22-20, we were in the lead, then they scored two points to tie up the game. Then, with a minute to go, Sacheth made a basket, to take the lead 24-22. Then someone on the other team got a chance but he missed. SO WE WON!
In our fourth game we versed Sacred Heart, this game was kind of for fun so we kept on shooting threes. We got up in front for the first 5min, then Sacheth, Luke , and William H made a 3. Sacred Heart got up in front for the game and we lost it, but it was a very fun game.
In conclusion, the Year 6 Hoop Time All Star Boys had a great experience at division basketball and we all had fun. We all thanked William S’ Dad for coaching us since he had to come from work to coach us. And Miss Lamana also was there to support our team. It was a very enjoyable time for all of us.
