Working Bee – Friday 12 June

We invite families and community members to join us for a Working Bee TOMORROW on Friday 12 June from 3.30pm–5.00pm.

⭐EACH FAMILY MEMBER WHO ATTENDS WILL EARN 50 HOUSE POINTS!!⭐

Our focus for the afternoon will be tidying and refreshing our school grounds, including weeding garden beds, spreading mulch and general clean-up work around the yard.

Many hands make light work, and even a short amount of time makes a big difference to our shared spaces. Students are welcome to attend with parent supervision.

If you are able to assist, please bring along gardening gloves and any handy garden tools (rake, shovel, blower, broom, etc) you may have available.

We greatly appreciate the support of our school community and look forward to working together to keep BHNPS looking its best.

My Most Important Job

It is hard to believe that there are now only two and a half weeks remaining in Term 2. As we approach the end of semester, I have been spending time speaking with students about the important role they play in creating a positive school environment.

Students often hear me ask a simple question:

"What is my most important job as Principal?"

Without hesitation, students across the school can tell you the answer:

"To keep everyone safe."

Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Box Hill North Primary School. While staff work hard every day to ensure our school is a safe and supportive place to learn, we also encourage students to understand that they play an important role in creating a safe environment for themselves and for others.

Safety Is Everyone's Responsibility

Being safe is not just about avoiding physical harm. It is also about the choices we make each day. It means speaking respectfully to others, including people in games and activities, using kind words, looking after school property, making responsible choices online and seeking help when something does not feel right.

Importantly, it also means recognising that our actions affect those around us. Every student has the ability to contribute positively to the safety and wellbeing of others through the choices they make each day.

Building a Positive School Culture

Alongside our focus on safety, I have also been talking with students about school pride and the important role every individual plays in shaping our school culture.

A positive school culture is not created by teachers or leaders alone. It is built by every student, every day. The way we treat each other, the way we speak to each other, the way we care for our learning spaces and the way we represent our school all contribute to the experience people have when they come to Box Hill North Primary School.

Small Actions, Big Impact

Simple actions make a significant difference:

  • Greeting others kindly

  • Welcoming someone into a game

  • Helping a younger student Including others

  • Speaking respectfully when we disagree

  • Taking care of our learning spaces Demonstrating our school values of Compassion, Ambition, Courage and Creativity

All these actions and more contribute to a culture where people feel safe, valued and connected.

These behaviours might seem small in isolation, but when hundreds of students make positive choices every day, they have a powerful impact on how people feel about coming to school.

A School We Can All Be Proud Of

When students choose positive cultural behaviours, they influence not only their own experience of school but also the experience of everyone around them.

Together, we can continue building a school community where every student feels safe, respected, included and proud to belong.

Thank you to our students, staff and families for the partnership you provide in helping us create a school where everyone can learn, grow and thrive.
