A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

National Reconciliation Week - All In
National Reconciliation Week runs each year from 23rd May to 3rd June. This year’s Reconciliation Week theme is All In. This theme highlights the role that we all have in reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders’ rights. Here at BNWPS, each year level has recognised Reconciliation Week in different ways. Some classes have taken time to explore the National Reconciliation Week artwork and its link to our current Inquiry on water, which is called Gaagal. They found out that the phrase Gaagal translates to ocean and was used by Gumbaynggirr Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey as a metaphor for people swirling together to be ‘all in’ for reconciliation. You can read more about the ways that our classes have explored reconciliation later in the newsletter and if you’d like to get involved yourself, this bingo board has some great ideas!
Student Free Day and King’s Birthday Public Holiday
