Year 3/4

As part of our Sustainability unit, the Year 3s and 4s have been exploring ecosystems, environmental impact and the invaluable work of CERES.

Inspired by the work of nature artist Andy Goldsworthy, we donned our coats and ventured outdoors to create our own ephemeral artworks using natural materials collected from around the school grounds.

Taking advantage of the last of Autumn's colourful leaves before Winter arrives, students carefully arranged leaves, sticks, seeds and other natural objects into creative designs and patterns.

How can families support this learning at home?

Next time you're out for a walk, encourage your child to slow down and notice the natural world around them. Collecting fallen leaves, seed pods and sticks to create a temporary nature artwork at home is a wonderful way to spark creativity while appreciating the beauty of the changing seasons.

Talking together about how we can care for local ecosystems through small everyday actions can also help strengthen your child's understanding of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
