The highlight of the Year 12 calendar finally arrived! The Senior School has been buzzing with anticipation for weeks as students prepared for the highly anticipated Year 12 Formal. Held at Alencia Receptions, students spent countless hours planning every detail of the evening; selecting dresses and tiaras, ironing suits, organising hair and makeup appointments, and booking everything from limousines to vintage cars.

The evening commenced with the presentation of Subject Awards, celebrating the hard work, dedication and achievements of our students. Students also enjoyed participating in the ever popular,  student-voted Teacher Awards, providing plenty of laughter and memorable moments throughout the night.

The formal was a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their achievements alongside friends and teachers. The night was filled with delicious food, great company, dancing, and plenty of photo opportunities. Most importantly, it provided students with the chance to pause, reflect and enjoy a significant milestone in their final year. It is an event that will undoubtedly remain a cherished memory for years to come.

General Achievement Test (GAT)

Following the excitement of the Formal, Year 12 students and Year 11 students undertaking Unit 3/4 studies completed the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Tuesday 16 June.

Students arrived on time, well prepared and ready for a long day of assessment. The GAT represents an important milestone as it is often the first formal VCAA assessment experience for many students. Throughout the day, students demonstrated perseverance, focus and maturity as they completed a range of literacy, numeracy and critical-thinking tasks.

We commend all students for their preparation and positive approach to the assessment and congratulate them on successfully completing this important step in their VCE journey.

English Practice Exam

On the morning of the Formal, Year 12 students participated in a practice English examination under authentic exam conditions. This valuable opportunity allowed students to experience the structure, timing and expectations of the end-of-year English examination in a supportive environment.

Practice examinations provide students with many benefits, including:

  • Developing effective time-management strategies.
  • Building confidence in responding to exam-style questions.
  • Identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Refining essay-writing and analytical skills.
  • Becoming familiar with examination conditions and expectations.
  • Reducing anxiety by increasing preparedness.

Completing the examination as a cohort also provided students with a shared learning experience and an opportunity to reflect on their progress as they prepare for their final VCAA assessments later in the year.

Year 12 Assembly

During our most recent Year 12 Assembly, we celebrated the many achievements and contributions of our students. Awards and acknowledgements included our EPIC (Every Period In Class) Awards, Green Chronicle recognitions, and participation in the Monash University Mentoring Initiative.

The Monash University Mentoring Initiative connects Year 12 students with current Monash University students who provide guidance, encouragement and practical advice about pathways into higher education. These partnerships support secondary school students to build their confidence, competencies and capacity as they prepare to realise their future educational aspirations.

World Cup Sweep

Adding to the excitement of the past few weeks, Year 12 students have enthusiastically embraced the 2026 Soccer World Cup through our very own World Cup Sweep. Students participating in the sweep were randomly allocated a country to follow throughout the tournament, with the student whose team is crowned World Cup champion set to receive a prize.

The sweep has generated plenty of friendly competition and lively discussion, with students eagerly checking scores, following results and supporting their allocated nations. To add to the atmosphere, World Cup matches have been screened in the Senior School during recess, providing students with the opportunity to come together, enjoy the games and share in the excitement of one of the world's biggest sporting events.

As we move into the second half of the year, we are incredibly proud of the way our Year 12 students continue to balance their academic commitments with the many opportunities and celebrations that make their final year so memorable. We look forward to supporting them through the challenges and achievements that lie ahead as they continue their journey towards graduation.
