A Community of Kindness
My grandfather was a simple man – a woodcutter from Northern Italy who emigrated between World Wars. He was a man of few words, but these pearls of wisdom stay with me; that the only reason God put us here, is to make others’ lives better. His words impacted my life in so many ways, and I have seen them come to fruition in others when I see the simple acts of kindness done by so many at St Luke’s.
One of the greatest strengths of our school is not just what happens in the classroom, but the spirit of care and compassion shown by our community. During this term, we have once again witnessed the wonderful capacity of our students, families, and staff to support others through acts of kindness and generosity.
Our recent contributions to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal have been a shining example of this. The donations of food items will go a long way in supporting individuals and families in our wider community who are doing it tough this winter.
We saw this mirrored in the generosity shown to Fight MND through our rather rushed beanie day in Week 8, on the day of Neale Daniher’s funeral.

Our last fundraising effort for this term is Jeans for genes, which raises money for the Children's Medical research Institute. To keep is simple, next Friday, 26th June, which is our last day of term, we would like the students to wear their jeans, along with their uniform tops, jumpers, jackets etc. As it is Terrific Kids assembly day, uniforms at the ceremony and in our photos adds to the importance of the occasion. We ask for a gold coin donation for this please.
What has been especially heartwarming is the way our students have embraced opportunities to give. Through simple yet meaningful actions, they are learning that even small contributions can make a significant difference in someone else’s life. These experiences help build empathy, gratitude, and a strong sense of social responsibility—values that are just as important as academic achievement.
We are incredibly proud of the kindness shown and the willingness of our community to come together for important causes. It truly reflects who we are as a school—a place where we not only strive to learn, but also to care for others. We see it in the small ways that people help, purely to give back to others – it is the time given to the second hand uniform shop, the frozen meals for families in short term need, the time given up to support the Bunnings BBQs, community group meetings, sports events and Advisory Council.
Thank you to all families for your generosity and support. Together, we are making a positive difference.
After a long and complex recruitment search, I am delighted to share that Teuta Veis will be joining our Foundation team from the beginning of Term 3. Teuta comes to St Luke’s from the G8 Early Learning Centre and will be a familiar face to some of our students, helping to create a sense of continuity and connection for our youngest learners.

Teuta will be warmly supported by our experienced Foundation teaching team as she settles into our school, and we are excited for the positive impact she will have within our classrooms.
Enjoy the school holidays, stay safe.
Warm regards,
