‘Way Too Cool’ Performance

On Friday 11th August, the whole school watched the ‘Way Too Cool’ performance. This was performed by Perform Education as part of our CBCA Book Week celebrations. The musical was based on some of the CBCA Shortlist books for 2023 including ‘My Strange Shrinking Parents’, ‘Jigsaw: A Puzzle in the Post’ and ‘Dirt by Sea’. The story followed Henry and Marley through their friendship, encouraging students to reflect on the importance of kindness. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performance as they joined in with the various songs and dances.

We can’t wait to continue our Book Week celebrations at Chatham with our annual Book Week Dress Up and Parade on Tuesday 29th of August.

Chatham Athletics Day

What a marvellous day it was at the Athletics Carnival last week! The air was filled with cheers, laughter, and an energetic sense of camaraderie as our fantastic Year 3-6 students, along with some of our enthusiastic parents, came together to celebrate wonderful sportspersonship and teamwork. The event was a true testament to the power of community and shared joy.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated parent volunteers and staff members whose tireless efforts and uplifting spirits made this day unforgettable. Your commitment to making this event a success shone brightly, and we are grateful for the positive energy you brought to the carnival. Thank you.

From the spirited races to the joyous House Chants lead by our House Captains, every moment was filled with warmth and camaraderie. It was truly impressive to see everyone enthusiastically dressing up in their house colours and wholeheartedly engaging in all the events! The Athletics Carnival not only showcased our students' impressive athletic talents but also fostered a sense of Chatham unity and pride that will stay with us for a long time.

Here's to a day that was enjoyed by all – a true celebration of teamwork, effort, and the wonderful spirit of our Chatham school community.

Footy Day

Yesterday our students enjoyed one of the most anticipated annual ‘dress-up’ days on the Chatham calendar - Footy Day!

With our enthusiastic Year 6 Junior School Councillors taking charge of the day’s proceedings, our school community commenced the day’s events by coming together in the School Hall for the traditional ‘parade of teams’. There was joy in the air while team spirit seemed to lift the roof as our very capable leaders introduced each of the AFL teams, while the respective songs blasted from our PA system. There was of course also a time to celebrate other sporting codes including soccer, with some Matildas fans dressed up in the green and gold, along with rugby, cricket and basketball also represented, amongst many others.  It was just lovely to also have so many parents and carers attend the pareade too.

Our Junior School Councillors also organised and facilitated every grade to participate in a class ‘longest kick’ competition. Students across the school were both eager to refine their kicking skills and thrilled to undertake the main challenge. It was wonderful to see the encouragement and positive reinforcement our leaders provided to the younger students. The leaders also chose to award a sportspersonship award to a student in each class who was particularly encouraging towards their fellow peers. Awards will be presented by our Junior School Councillors for these accolades at our Monday morning assembly.

All that exercise created very hungry students and the special Footy Day lunch saw the line-up for hot dogs as icy-poles meandering around the School Hall! There was almost as much excitement in the air for this aspect of the day as the team parade! We thank Leda and Dimitra, and our fantastic parent helpers who were able to assist with this on the day.

What a fantastic Chatham tradition Footy Day is!

A wonderful day of team spirit was had by all.

Here at Chatham, we care about the safety of our students especially online. As your 2023 ICT Captains, we are here to share some of our best tips to keep you and your family safe online. We will continue to provide these tips in our school newsletters throughout the rest of the year.

This week, we will focus on passwords.

Did you know that one-third of people have over 20 passwords?

What should be included in a password?

A strong password should have more than 14 characters, including a combination of numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters, and some symbols, like $ or #.

Should I use the same password for all of my accounts?

It is highly recommended that you have different passwords for different accounts.

Should I share my password?

The short answer is no. Never share your password with anyone, even your friends.

However, there is one condition. There is nothing wrong to share your password with your parents. They can be very helpful to save and monitor your passwords.

For more information about passwords and other eSafety topics, visit https://www.esafety.gov.au/There is a lot of useful information on this website led by the world’s first eCommissioner!

Thank you,
