East Gippsland Athletics Carnival:
Our students had an absolutely amazing turn out at the East Gippsland Athletics Carnival. It was the biggest team that we have taken in a number of years, with 75 students qualifying to attend. Our students competed with gumption and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. Some even stepped up to cover other events at the last minute.
Thank you to our staff members who attended, and congratulations to all students who participated and represented our College with pride.
A number of our students have qualified to attend the Gippsland Athletics carnival, which will be held on the 5th September.
East Gippsland Basketball (year 7-10)
The BARC was loaded full of students on Wednesday 30th Aug, playing host to the East Gippsland Basketball tournament for students year 7-10. The College had 5 teams playing throughout the day, with mixed results across the board.
The year 7 girls gave it a good shot against Nagle year 7 students, unfortunately losing both games, but playing with gusto and learning some new skills. The year 7 boys had some good hit outs across the day, winning a few and losing a couple. The year 8 boys drew quite a cheering crowd with their games, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and inclusivity in all their games. Our intermediate girls demonstrated a good combination of netball and basketball skills and got the win. Our intermediate boys played with might, a focus game being BSC vs Nagle, with some incredibly skill on the court. Jonah and Zayn displayed excellent sportsmanship in joining the Swifts Creek team to ensure they had enough players to take the court, congratulations boys, you made our College proud.
Over all the day was great to be a part of and a special shout out must go to the staff who attended and supported our teams.
With the school year of sport drawing to a close, it has been wonderful to see so many students out in the yard playing basketball, footy, handball, gaga ball, badminton and netball. If you ever want to borrow some sport equipment, please speak to the Hubs or PE office and PLEASE RETURN THE EQUIPMENT so everyone has an opportunity to play.
