Principal's Message
Good afternoon and welcome to the end week 8 of Term 3.
This is a 'trigger time' for plenty of key topics across the College.
If you are in year 12 VCE or VM programs then 'the end is near' and the pressure is on. 😊
The vast majority of VM students will have completed their tasks to gain their VM certificate and so beyond Term 3 – they don’t need to return to school. A meeting was held yesterday to explain 'all this stuff' to the entire year 12 group. Those students who are going unscored in VCE will be in the same situation. If they have an 'S' (satisfactory) for all their subjects – then they will have completed their Year 12 certificate.
For students who are completing VCE exams – they will have 3 weeks into Term 4 before they begin study revision and then kick off the formal exam process with the intention of gaining an ATAR score. The usual celebrations will of-course be held (see all the dates in the senior section) and this is the opportunity for all of our students concluding their studies at our College to come together and celebrate, before they take their next steps.
At the end of Term 3 we have parent/teacher conference for our families and students. Please make sure that you book in your appointments via Compass (available next week in your Compass App) and make use of the various styles of connection. That of-course includes face to face if that is your preference.
State Wide NAPLAN results have been released. This shows how our College compares to all schools across the state. In short, the results are steady compared to last year and the year before, but of-course I am greedy when it comes to BSC and I always want to see constant improvement. The notable highlights have been the students in our College who from a disadvantaged group, or those who are from the Koorie culture – their results are far better than state averages – so very happy with that. I guess this just always highlights more work to be done!
This time of year also triggers the positions of responsibility roles across the College. (In short – how the Hubs will be set up for 2024 and other significant leadership roles.) There are of course others still being worked through. Congratulations to the following staff that have been successful in their roles. Below is how our Hubs will look for 2024 and other roles.

And last but certainly not least, we have now completed 3 of the 4 days of the Review Process.
I have to say, “I just couldn’t be happier with how it is all progressing” The chance to highlight the work of the last 4 years and set strategic goals for the next 4 years is a joy.
The work so far has raised fantastic 'wins' and some areas to continue to work on developing, but that is always the case. There have been multiple staff, student and parent focus groups, examinations of our data sets and more. The final day is next Monday where we formalise the plans for 2024 and beyond. Thanks to everyone involved – it has been fabulous.
Always happy to chat – just make an appointment.
