Wellbeing Hour

Over the past two weeks each level has been focussing on, Positive Coping as part of the Respectful Relationships program.

Here are some reflections from our 5/6 students-

Positive Coping strategies from 5/6s

Positive coping is something that calms you down.  Energetic can be calming and takes your mind off stress. Energetic could include sports you enjoy, going for a walk or bike ride and playing with pets. Another positive coping strategy is social activities, including spending time with family, friends and going to family events and hosting plans.

Last Friday we learnt about positive coping and respectful relationships. It was super interesting. For example, I wrote that I like to play soccer when I need to calm down from something stressful. For self calming, meditating is one of the best ways to take away those negative emotions.

Last week we learned about respectful relationships and positive coping. Positive coping is when you’re upset and you find a way to cope or deal with a stressful situation. For example, some things I like to do when I need to calm down is reading and writing. It helps me to relax and deal with the feelings I'm feeling at that time. I also like to meditate to get rid of any negative emotions I feel.

On the 12 of August 2023 we learnt how to do positive coping skills, like energetic coping skills, self calming skills and so on. My favourite thing to do is self calming and being energetic. The reason why I choose these two skills is because I am very energetic and I like to self calm by sleeping and doing meditation.

On the 12th of August we learnt about positive coping skills. One of the positive coping skills is when you can go and talk to friends or family when you are feeling lonely, bored or if you just want some advice. If you start feeling stressed or like you won’t get everything done then go make a quick plan so then you can be organised and will feel like you will get everything done. If you start feeling confused go do something else and go back later to do it.
