Sibling enrolments for Foundation 2024

Does your child at Marlborough have a younger sibling due to start in Foundation next year?  If so, it is now time to enrol. Please contact the Office to collect a Foundation 2024 Enrolment Pack or you can print out the attached enrolment form and return to the office as soon as possible.

It is important to follow the state wide timeline to enrol your child in Foundation. Enrolling your child in line with the timelines allows us to plan our classrooms, staffing and transition activities and ensures your child has the best start to school. There is detailed information about the enrolment process under the section in the newsletter "Foundation Enrolments 2024".

If you have any questions about our Kinder Transition Program or questions about starting Foundation classes, please contact me.

Parent/Guardian Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

A random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents / caregivers / guardians has been selected to participate in this year’s survey.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.

Kindergarten Partnerships

Thursday this week (31/8/2023) we are holding our Foundation Information Night at 7pm it will be a great time for prospective families to come and learn about our school.

There is ongoing work with kindergartens to support smooth and positive transitions to Foundation. This work has recently included Katherine Bolton and myself visiting Cuddly Bear Kindergarten's Transition Information Night as well as introductory visits to Goodstart Wantirna and Greenwood Park Kindergarten.

Community Kids Childcare visited on Tuesday enjoying activities about dinosaurs. Cuddly Bear Kindergarten visited our school last week and have created a collaborative book about space and planets for both classrooms.

Whole School House Athletics Carnival.

Friday 25th August 2023.

Tuesday’s weather before last Friday was wet, cold and miserable.  No one could believe how lucky we were to get such a beautiful and sunny day on Friday 25th August.

The students and staff arrived dressed up in their house colours and the atmosphere was positive and electric. Parents, grandparents, friends, ex-students all turned up to help, cheer and support. MPS Staff, high school students and parents’ helpers were invaluable in making the whole day run smoothly and successfully. I cannot express my gratitude enough.

I was so impressed with the effort and enthusiasm of all students, staff and parents. Lots of students did their personal best. (PB) I really enjoyed watching the participation of all students who although exhausted were still giving it their all. Students who had been sick leading up to the carnival competed courageously knowing they weren’t 100 %.

A big thank you to everyone.  Special thanks to my behind the scenes helpers, Jane B, Mary Ellen, Beck, Brian V who turned up early at the track to help. Natalie W, Christina P, Jenelle S, Amber and Peter M. All MPS staff for following up on permission / consent forms. Thank you to Katherine B for your ongoing support and encouragement.

A huge thank you to all the parent helpers who came to the track early to set up and then stayed to help run Track and Field events. Lyn E, Thomas E, Will T, Beck T, Will E, Amy J, Elisa G,  Di C,   Rob W,  Robyn R, Tozzy M, Natalie L, Gloria B , Frances C/ M , David H, Anthony F, Tanya H/ F, Freya A, Erin V,  (dad) Andrew,  Vanessa D,  Jess C, Steve D, Peter K, and I apologise for the many helpers I have missed.

Great news as FORD House won and their name is now  5th on the new Marlborough House Athletics plaque. All houses have won in the past five years.

Jones were second, Cawley  third and Kenny fourth.  There was a point between Ford and Jones so it really matters that everyone who competed and got a point for their house contributed to the final score.

For further information

District Athletics is: Tuesday 5th September selected 5/ 6 students and selected 3 /4 students at Bill Sewart Track, Burwood.
