We are all hoping the sunshine will make a return next term. This is a timely reminder to families that all students are required to wear the Skye PS broad-brimmed school hat at recess and lunch, in line with our SunSmart Policy. Students who do not have their hat at school will be asked to sit in the shady part of the sails area near the STEAM room. Older style school hats may be purchased from the office for $5 or the new style are available from PSW for $19.95. Hats are frequently misplaced, please ensure they are clearly named so they can be easily returned.
Our Visiting Teacher, Mandie, is eager to hear from students with hearing impairment if they would like to attend this year's Deaf Sports Day event. Please contact her for further details (or contact me for her details) if you would like your child to participate.
After a busy term filled with learning, students and staff are looking forward to the holidays as a chance to take a pause, relax and re-energise ready for a big term of learning in Term Four. Holiday times are exciting times for many of our families, though they don't come without some challenges. Often the somewhat unstructured nature of these breaks can cause some stress for individuals. Spending time developing a routine that suits your family can help remove the unpredictability and uncertainty. Consider balancing time helping with chores with free time and inside and outside games/activities. At school, teachers frequently use a visible timetable to support children in seeing the sequence of scheduled activities in a day.
Students will likely be spending time using digital devices during the holidays, please see below for some tips and reminders on how to help your child stay safe online. Further advice for parents regarding online safety can be found at the E-Safety Commissioner webpage https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents .
