NSWPSSA RUGBY

During Week 6, Gus Simpson and Nash Groth competed as members of the Polding Rugby Union Team at the NSWPSSA Rugby Championships in Camden.

The boys represented our school, our Diocese and the Polding Team with pride and came home with a bronze medallion. This is a huge achievement.

On Thursday the 24th of August Molly and myself left the Year 6 Excursion early to participate in the 2023 School Sports Australia, in swimming. Molly competed in 5 events and I competed in 6 events.

On Friday afternoon Lexi and I collected our uniforms, warmed up with the New South Wales team and then we had our team photo. Then on Saturday we went back to Darling Harbour in Sydney to have a look around in the Madame Tussaud’s, Sea Life and Wildlife.

Lexi swam on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Lexi’s placing’s were 8th in 200m Freestyle, 10th in 100m Backstroke, 2nd in 4x50m Medley Relay, 7th in 100m Freestyle, 2nd in 50m Freestyle, and 2nd in 4x50m Freestyle Relay. Lexi also did some exceptional  PB’s as well.

To get to this level Molly and I had to make it from the school carnival, to DIO, then to Polding and last one PSSA!

Thank you for your encouragement and support. Thanks to our support crew from Gunnedah who came down. Special shout to Eugenie Goddard and her parents who came down just so they could be there to watch us. We also had other old St Xavier’s students such as Audrey Hannaford, Tahlia Smith and Jacob Smith there to watch us as well.

Touch Football Gala Day

On Tuesday 29th August, St Xavier's sent five teams of students from Years 5 and 6 to participate in the Gunnedah Touch Football Gala Day. The teams played other schools from Gunnedah and surrounding areas. It was a great day, with some students learning how to play and others improving their skills. All of the teams played very well.

A big thank you to the Gunnedah Touch Football Association for running the day and the high school students who gave up their time to referee the games.
