The Learning Zone

Science Week

Week 7 was Science Week at St Xaviers. The theme for this year was 'Innovation Powering Future Industries'. During Lunch students had the opportunity to make Ozobot tracks and code Lego. On Thursday, Primary students attended a Forensic Science Incursion in the hall where they had to work as a team to follow clues and solve a mystery. On Friday, Kindergarten to Year 2 students had a fun afternoon of science experiments. There were aeroplanes flying, magic flowers opening, Bee Bots moving around the shared space and some really green goop. It was fantastic seeing everyone come to school on Friday in their house colours with their craziest scientist hair!

Year 1 Excursion

On Tuesday the 29th of August, Year 1 travelled to Tamworth. The excitement was palpable, with many students experiencing their first time on a bus and their first school excursion, all in one day!

The excursion was to experience first hand some of the things that we have been learning about in Geography and Science. Our first stop was the Marsupial Park, where all the students had the opportunity to feed an Emu and watch the ranger feed the Wallabies, we were also fortunate enough to be given an Emu egg to take back to school to put on display in the shared space. The students were also quite taken by several roaming Echidnas, who call the park home.

The second and final destination was Hopscotch Park where the students had lunch and a well earned play. They had great fun demonstrating their agility on the play equipment!
