FIRE Carriers
FIRE CARRIER CEREMONY
On Friday 18th August we commissioned our new F.I.R.E Carriers for 2023.
We welcomed Michael Chisolm and Vanessa Byrnes from the Catholic Education Office, to help commission our new Fire Carriers and award them with their certificates and badges. We are very thankful and appreciative of Michael and Vanessa for their help during our special ceremony.
F.I.R.E stands for Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education.
The story of F.I.R.E carriers began with a dream to bring Aboriginal culture, history and spirituality into the forefront of education in Catholic schools. As FIRE Carriers we have laid strong foundations in our school community to build respect, understanding and knowledge of our shared story that started in this rich land 60,000 years ago and continues today.
Here at St. Brendan’s Primary School, we are committed to reconciliation. Reconciliation is developing a relationship based on an understanding and trust of cultural difference and taking action.
St. Brendan’s Primary School welcomes and invites First Nations students, families and elders with open hearts and minds, to guide and help us build a future that acknowledges and celebrates First Nations culture and connection to Country.
