Good afternoon families,
The end of the term is fast approaching and with that comes the Spring season and some warmer weather. We look forward to the next two weeks and all the events that we have planned including the Learning Conferences where an opportunity is provided for a conversation between the teacher, student and family, our district athletics and our annual celebration of footy on the last day of term.
This weekend is a very special time for all our Dad's/special friends in the community.
We wish to acknowledge them all and thank them for all that they do. We wish them a very Happy Father's Day and hope that a special day is had by all.
This morning we celebrated our annual Father's Day Breakfast. This was a lovely celebration where the community came together to recognise the importance of the role of a Father. It was lovely to witness our students sharing breakfast with their dads and for the general buzz that took place in the hall. We wish to extend a huge thank you to the Parents and Friends Association, Tanya Jhoomun and the school choir, Tanya Stefanec for her expert photography and for everyone else who made this event a special occasion.
Fathers in Our Lives
We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in our lives.
Fatherhood does not come with a manual, and we recognise the strength required to carry out the role.
We ask for Your blessings for them all and forgiveness where it is needed.
This Father's Day we remember the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and families, and the ways--both big and small--they lift children to achieve dreams thought beyond reach.
So too, we remember all those who have helped fill the void when fathers pass early or are absent; grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers, coaches and the women of our families.
For those who are fathers, we ask for wisdom and humility in the face of the task of parenting. Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You.
In Your Holy name, O God, we pray.
Amen
Reconciliation
Congratulations to the Year 3's who made their Reconciliation this week. Our students were very reflective and participated with reverence in the sacrament. We would like to thank Fr Ignatius, Fr Peter, the classroom teachers and Marylene Douglas for preparing our students for this very important part of their Faith journey.
Parents and Friend's Association
Just a reminder that our next PFA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 3 October at 7.00pm. Please note that all members our our school community are welcome.
Canteen News - Special Lunches
As previously advised the canteen will no longer operate in Term 4. However Lisa Goodes has volunteered to organise some special lunches on the days listed below.
Special Lunch Dates:
Over the counter canteen sales will start Week 1 of Term 4. Snacks can be purchased each Thursday and Friday during the first break. If you would like to volunteer and have a current Working With Children's Check please contact Lisa Goodes on hall@stlouisaspendale.com
Fundraiser for Christmas on the Streets (COTS)
On Thursday some of our Year 6 students and Mrs Douglas organised a fundraiser for COTS. The vision for COTS is a vision for 'a world where homelessness ceases to be a reality.' Our students were encouraged to wear their pyjamas and to donate a gold coin. Once again a huge thank you to our community for the $668.25 raised. It will be well received by Roseanne Rofaeel the founder of the organisation and we can trust it will be put to good use.
