Kitchen Garden

3/4S

Book characters came alive in the garden on Wednesday afternoon as 3/4S worked in pairs and small groups to compete lots of jobs in the kitchen garden.

Madi and Evie planted carrot seeds.

Spencer and Joseph used loppers to cut dried sunflower stems into small bits for a base layer in the compost.

Sophie, Amara, Cassidy and Arlie prepared a garden bed for spring planting by digging up the top layer of soil and mixing in alpaca poo, then spreading a layer of compost

over the top.

Eli and Nash mounded up compost around broccoli’s and scrubbed and washed

all the hand tools.

Ariana, Darcy and Maddie shredded newspapers to add to the compost bins

and gave some bins a mix.

Oscar and Ellis spread manure on a garden bed to prepare it for spring planting.

Jasper, Jethro, Ollie and PJ dug the mustard green manure back into the soil to breakdown and liquid fertilised young plants.

Kane and Roben washed potatoes, ready for 3/4H to cook with on Friday.

They also picked cabbages for the cooking session, too.

Thank you to Peta, Milly and Sarah for helping in the garden.
