Principal's Message

Commissioning of the sixth Principal of All Saints’ College

The Chair of the College Board, Mr Gary Mack, warmly invites you to the Commissioning Service for the sixth principal of All Saints College, Mr Nick Jones

In the Anglican tradition, a commissioning service is a significant moment. It is both a formal affirmation of the responsibility entrusted to the Principal and a prayerful commitment by the College community to support that leadership. It symbolises the shared purpose and partnership in the education and formation of our young people.

Seating will be limited, and parents and guardians are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to Gillian.Glisson@allsaints.wa.edu.au to attend the Commissioning Service, which will be held at 12.00pm on Tuesday 24 March in the Indoor Sports Centre.

Conflict in the Middle East

In recent days, many of our young people will have been exposed—through news reports and social media—to distressing images of conflict in the Middle East. As parents and educators, we cannot shield our children from every troubling event in the world, but we can help them to process what they see with care, perspective and hope. Our young people will have questions, thoughts and opinions about what they are witnessing, and I encourage you to open that dialogue with your children.

It is important that conversations are honest and age appropriate. Young people benefit from calm, measured explanations rather than silence or alarm.  They need reassurance that while terrible things are happening in some parts of the world, here in Perth we remain relatively safe and secure. Australia is a stable and peaceful nation, and our College is a place of safety, belonging and care.

We must be clear in our values; violence and war should be avoided wherever possible. As a community grounded in faith and respect for human dignity, we affirm that every life is precious. History reminds us that when injustice or suffering occurs, good people must not look away. There are constructive and peaceful ways to stand up, to advocate, to pray, to support humanitarian efforts and to make a positive difference. At All Saints’ College we pray that the conflict in the Middle East may quickly come to an end and that our world leaders demonstrate empathy, respect, integrity and courage in responding to difference and fear.

Together, we offer a prayer for peace.

Dear God

We pray for peace in the Middle East and especially pray for those countries directly impacted by the current conflict. Protect the innocent who are caught in the crossfire – help them find safety and sanctuary. We pray that the leaders of the United States, Israel and Iran might recognise the futility of war and stop the fighting. Change hearts so leaders may find peaceful ways to resolve conflict.

May we who pray for peace refuse to see our neighbours as enemies and instead seek to be bridge builders. May all people learn to live as members of one family, seeking to follow your way of love.

Through Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

Amen.

All the best

Nick Jones
