Library News
The Libraryhas continued to be a buzz before school each morning. It is lovely to see the vast number of parents and students coming out of the library in the mornings. Even young toddlers have enjoyed listening to their older brother or sister read.
Some of our Year 6 students have had their buddies in before school and have demonstrated excellent leadership skills by reading to them. We also have some students busy setting up displays of books in the morning, preparing announcements over the PA and helping with general supervision which has also been an excellent display of leadership.
The response to our Reinforced Reading Program has been terrific. A huge thank you to those parents who have made time to come in and complete the short training for this.
Feedback from those parents has been excellent. Recently, we had a visit from the MulitLit company (owners of the program) along with a CESL staff member and their commendation of our school's implementation of this program was very high.
The next training dates for this program if you are interested are:
- Tuesday 21st April, 3:30pm in the Library
- Tuesday 28th April, 8:50am in the Library
Please note, We are willing to be flexible and work in with your busy schedule, so if you would like to attend these sessions but these dates are not suitable, please contact Mrs Heather Woodman at the school to make an alternative time that would best suit you.
These sessions are open to all parents across our school. Toddlers are more than welcome to be present during this training and can be provided with toys to play with. If you have any queries or would like to know more, please contact Heather at school.
Thank you for continuing to support your child at home with their literacy learning by hearing reading each night. Please keep the power of literacy bubbling in your homes over Easter by coming into the school library this week and borrowing some books to take home and share together! Alternatively, a visit to the Shepparton library over the holidays is also a wonderful, low-cost way to get books into homes.
And, the magical world of books can also take you to many places without having to actually be there, as British-American Author Jhumpa Lahiri once said:
“That’s the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet.” - Jhumpa Lahiri
