From the Principal

Dear families,

Last Friday we officially acknowledged and celebrated our new school leadership team in our Week 7 assembly. This also gave us the chance to celebrate students who represented their houses and school in sporting events including the school swimming carnival. Thank you to the families who were able to share this time with us.

Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 have been completing their NAPLAN assessments. Although there was quite a big technical challenge on day one, they demonstrated their resilience and got writing on Thursday. They should all be proud of their calm approach to the task at hand.

Scripture started last Thursday in the Primary space for those students who returned a note. At this point, there will be one session provided in Week 7 of each term. A combined Easter service will also be provided for students who attend lessons. If your child would like to attend Scripture and they are in K-6, please let the office know.

The fuel prices and availability are continuing to impact what we are all doing. If your children are not able to come to school because of this impact, please let school know in the absence response on Sentral. We are being asked to report the actual impacts to the leaders in the Department of Education on a weekly basis. Excursions are being looked at closely as well. At this point we are not needing to cancel anything and we are keeping fingers crossed that we won't have to.

Uniform

Crocs and slides, although great, are not school safe. Students need to be wearing safe footwear to school. If there is a medical reason that your child is not wearing safe footwear, please let the school know. Students cannot attend lessons in the metal, wood and food tech spaces if they do not have safe footwear. Trainers are great for sport and general lessons. Industrial subjects including metal, wood and Primary Industries require closed leather footwear. Work boots are a great option for these classes.

P&C AGM

Monday night saw the P&C AGM. Thank you to those members who attended. There were enough people attending to allow for the AGM to go ahead. The new P&C executive have been voted in and ratified.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the outgoing committee members with a special mention of Renee Osborne who is stepping back to focus on other things. With a dedication that spanned both ACS and Beckom, there are many aspects of the school that will remain as a legacy to her commitment to the community.
