YOUTH ART EXHIBITION 2024 - DREAMS

Calling all young people aged 5 - 25 years old to submit their best artwork to be displayed in our Youth Art Exhibition, Dreams. This annual event is hosted by Glen Eira Youth Services Youth Events and Leadership Team and will be held at the Glen Eira Town Hall Gallery.

 

The Youth Art Exhibition is dedicated to celebrating young people for their unique talents and their ability to interpret life through art.  We are looking for a diverse range of artworks including 3D pieces or sculptures, digital artworks, paintings, drawing and photography.

 

SUBMISSIONS:

Opening date for submissions: Monday 3 June at 9:00am

Closing date for submissions: Friday 16 August at 5:00pm

*Entrants must, live, work or study within the city of Glen Eira.*

 

ENTRANT CATEGORIES AND PRIZES:

Junior:

Ages 5 -9 – prize to the value of $100

Ages 10 -13 – prize to the value of $150 

Senior: 

Ages 14 -17 -prize to the value of $250

Ages 18 –25- prize to the value of $300 and solo exhibition in Gallery Two in 2025.

WINTER TEEN SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

Stay warm these holidays and make some new friends at our Winter School Holiday Program!

 

Glen Eira's Winter School Holiday Program will run during the June holidays in 2024.  Activities are open to young people aged 12 to 18 years, who live, work or study in Glen Eira. 

 

We’ve got some exciting activities lined up this break including:

  • ice skating
  • pretzel-making
  • self-defence
  • Picasso painting

DEADLY YOUTH: A YOUTH SERVICES PODCAST

Deadly Youth: The Podcast is a new series that will shine a spotlight on the diverse stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, providing a space for their voices and stories to be amplified and in turn provide the visibility to empower other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to actualise their dreams.

 

There are paid opportunities to be involved in this series and examples of possible themes include sporting success, connecting with country, artistic expression and strength in culture.

GLEN EIRA COMMUNITY VOICE 

Community Voice is made up of around 400 locals invited to respond to up to eight online surveys or discussion forums each year. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary, and you can opt out at any time.

 

Join our online community panel and share your views on our programs, projects, services and strategies through periodic short online surveys you can do from the comfort of your home.

 

There are prizes to be won by participating, including memberships to Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre. If you're 18 or older and live in Glen Eira, register your interest today and make an impact on Council decision-making.

ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT SERVICES 

Youth Services offers one-on-one support appointments to young people aged 10 to 25 (parental consent is required for those under 18 years old).

 

We can offer targeted goal-setting sessions for issues such as school stress, relationship issues, budgeting and getting ready to start job seeking. Our Youth Services team can also assist you with referrals to specialised local services to help you out with:

  • drug and alcohol issues;
  • jobs and education;
  • money problems;
  • relationship issues;
  • parenting challenges;
  • housing;
  • domestic and family violence; and
  • mental health.

We can also provide interim support until these longer-term supports are established.
