ST MARTHA’S SCS EISTEDDFOD SUCCESS

INFANTS CHOIR - FIRST PLACE

PRIMARY CHOIR - SECOND PLACE

Choir director - Catherine Wood

Last week both the Infants Choir (Tuesday 28th May) and the Primary Choir (Wednesday 29th May) performed in the SCS Eisteddfod at Domremy College with excellent results.

The Infants Choir sang “The Polliwog” by the Australian composer Glyn Lehmann. The song is about a strange creature lurking down at the waterhole and conveys a message about facing fears and finding things out for yourself.

The adjudicator was impressed by the choir's clear diction, unified ensemble and very effective 2-part singing.

I will never forget their excitement when they realised they had won. Such spontaneous joy! A very special achievement considering the choir was only established in February.

The Primary Choir also performed a song by Glyn Lehmann, “I Am the Earth”, a very moving song that conveys an environmental message and is a dialogue between the Earth and the world's children.

The adjudicator commented positively on the choir’s dynamics and the strong unison singing.

I was so very proud of both choirs. Their dedication and commitment has been outstanding and it has been a privilege to witness their development and joy of singing each week at practice.
