Health & PE Update

District Cross Country

On Thursday 9 May, about 55 students ranging from Levels 4 to 6 competed against five other schools at the District Cross Country event.

It was a perfect day for running and all of our students did an amazing job. We had many students make the top 16 for their age group and will proceed onto Division Cross Country.

Thank you to Mr Zach who organised the day and thank you to the parents who volunteered to marshall the course and to those who came to support.

Junior Cross Country

Our 2036 and 2040 Olympians took to the Cross Country track on Tuesday 21 May.

Our House Captains enthusiastically greeted each age group as they arrived at the parklands across from the school.

Our Foundation students kicked off, running 2 laps of our circuit - a run of nearly 700m, followed by our Level 1 students. We finished the day with the Level 2 students running 3 laps - a run of just over 1km. It was great to see all the students giving it a red hot go and doing their best and some of the races were very hotly contested.

Our House champion will be announced at assembly on Monday and ribbons presented to our top 5 place getters in each year level.

Did you know.....

Running Club is still 'running'.

Every Wednesday at 8:30am for Level 2-6. We have moved from the parklands to now meet on the basketball court to avoid wet socks! Students need to check in with the House Captains when they arrive and join the warm up. We usually combine some active games with a different running challenge each week to have fun with friends whilst being physically active and building fitness.

JP Racing Training runs every Monday lunchtime in the gym.

Our JP Racing team is our Human Powered Vehicle and Push cart program for Level 6 students. We race 4 times throughout the year including our week long race program in Maryborough in November. Training in the gym is for general fitness, core and leg strength. Whilst this is aimed at the Level 6 students in the program and is often run by them, anyone is welcome to attend.

The Gym is becoming a health, fitness and PE hub of information

The records windows as you walk in record result of school sporting activities, but I also record results of small whole school or class challenges. Our human body displays provide information about muscles (and bones and body systems to come) whilst over the coming weeks, keep an eye out for our fitness hub with a range of fitness, strength, stretching and conditioning information and activities.
