Leadership

Having a role at Beaumaris North Primary School is great. As you get to do take action Tuesday’s, which is when we do something to help the school. I am Vice Captain so having a meeting with the principal is often what we get to do.

If you don’t have a role, you go around the school with a bucket and a pair of tongs and pick up rubbish to help keep the school clean. The house captains set up some sport equipment for the year 3’s as well.

The most enjoyable thing about being a Vice-Captain and having an important role is that you get to go on excursions depending on what role you have. The sustainability captains go on excursions to do with nature and wildlife, sometimes they go to talk about how to keep the wild animals safe or maybe interact with animals.

School and school vice-captains go on excursions to talk about responsibilities and how to keep others safe.

Every Tuesday the year six students have been doing take-action Tuesday. Take-action is a time for all the year six students to show leadership and to help the school in different ways. For example, the house captains clean and organize the sport shed and help set up year three sport, and the S.A.T captains help find ways to spend money that the school raises.

You might be wondering what people without roles do. Some of the things they do are Making things like notice boards and many more. Some of the other activities include, helping younger year levels, doing jobs for the teachers, picking up rubbish and many more.

How the World Works

On Tuesday 21st of May, the Year six cohort brought in many recyclable items, such as boxes, string or recyclable plastic, to school. After recess, each Year six created a group of four. Using each group of fours’ materials and a few hours, we created small houses strong enough to withstand a tornado (Mr Ross with a leaf blower).

We all had a really fun time doing this activity and really miss the houses that had fallen which took hours to make.
