The Careers team would love to hear from any students in Year 10 - 12 that may be interested in a Career pathway with the Australian Defence Force in the future.

There are plenty of opportunities to explore this career pathway through organised ADF Careers Days, Work Experience, etc.

Gap Year Program

Year 12 students can apply for a 12-month position in the Air Force, Army, or Navy to begin in 2025. There are many exciting roles on offer. Click here to explore the job roles and start your application.

Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA)

Students keen to complete a university qualification while undergoing military training should consider applying for ADFA.  Applications are open for the 2025 intake and students are encouraged to start the application process. Please see Sandie for assistance in starting your application. 

Defence University Scholarship

This program is for students who are keen to study a university degree at a civilian university and then work for the ADF after you graduate. If selected, the ADF will pay most of your course fees, assist with susidised housing, and pay you a wage while you study. Below are examples of eligible courses. 

Engineering

Health & Medical (e.g., nursing, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, radiography).

Science (e.g., pathology).

Business (e.g., accounting, HR).

Humanities

Teaching (Secondary)
