Prep Zoo Excursion
Last Thursday, the Preps travelled to the Melbourne Zoo as part of their Inquiry topic to learn more about living things and their needs. The children were super excited about the bus ride and the opportunity to find out more about some of their favourite animals. Prior to their trip they had investigated what is a zoo, types of enclosures, zoo maps and how they could become ‘wild explorers’. The children loved viewing animals, learning more about the differences between tortoises and turtles and the needs of living things at the education centre and having the opportunity to see the dinosaur display. We were extremely proud of the way the children showed respect, kindness and resilience throughout the day. We thank our parent volunteers for assisting with supervision.
The following day, the students wrote some fabulous reflections about their day.
Arlo: I loved the black gorilla. I loved the bus.
Birdie: I went to the zoo and I saw the elephant and tiger. They were so cute. And I went to the zoo and I saw the big gorilla and it was hairy.
Rahni: The meerkat was climbing to get to the top.
Arie: I loved the lions and the tiger because it was roaring.
Mikaela: The snow leopard was on the mountain.
Edison: I went to see the gorillas and the orangutans.
Ireland: The orangutan was sitting on a chair and he was just relaxing.
