ANZAC Day Reflection

During the holidays we had the privilege of representing our College at the ANZAC Day Commemorative Service. Captains Emily and Charlie laid our College wreath at the Cenotaph in the Victory Memorial Gardens Commemorative Ceremony in recognition of the sacrifices made by those who served in defending our country.

The March began down Baylis Street, where House Captains Julian, Lincoln, Ava, Emma, Chloe and Tempey were involved in carrying banners alongside war veterans. Past soldiers were applauded as they drove, marched and were driven through the crowds of people paying their respects.

The morning concluded with both the Australian and New Zealand National Anthems, played and sung beautifully by musicians from the Australian Kapooka Army Band.  It was a beautiful ceremony to take part in, and we were very honoured to represent the College, commemorating those who fought bravely for our country.

Rotary Youth Driver Awareness Program Year 11

Year 11 students attended the annual RYDA Youth Driver Awareness Program. The course explored mind state, distractions, safer roads, safer vehicles, safer speeds and vulnerable road users. The overall purpose is to gather students at a time when they are gaining independence on the roads, facilitating an awareness of their responsibility and actions to ensure the safety of themselves and others. Students enjoyed their day and gained valuable understanding of the responsibilities of road users.

Evaluation Surveys

Road Safety Education is committed to providing students with a quality learning experience that is student-centred in its approach.  Parents/Carers are asked  to complete this survey which will provide valuable feedback on the RYDA program.

Student Diaries for Year 7

This week we launched hard copy Student Diaries to all Year 7 students.  The diaries are a point of reference for staff and parents to be able to talk to students about their learning, homework, assessment tasks and extra curricular activities, in order to support time management and organisation skills.

The diaries have plenty of space to record subject information, as well as space for their timetable, personal details and assessment record.  There is also a place for parents to comment or sign at the end of each week.

We would like to use these diaries to ensure that students are talking to parents at home about what they’re learning and what tasks they need to complete or have coming up. We will be asking for feedback from students, parents and staff later in the year and look forward to your support of the Student Diary.

We also have 3 homegroups who will be trialling the diary across all Year groups to gain feedback about student needs and to help inform us of ways forward in 2025.

Feedback so far from our Year 7’s is fantastic and many are confident knowing they have their prac gear organised for the right day and their laptop goes on the charger each evening.  Homework is being completed and ticked off and everyone can access their timetable without needing technology. If you haven’t seen it yet, ask your child about their new Student Diary.
