Board of Governors Update
The Board’s operations over the last year have included some significant and momentous matters impacting the School, in particular the introduction of our new Principal, the considerable change to the structure of the School through the L@F24+ Program and unexpectedly the opportunity that arose to acquire the Argyle Motor Lodge.
We took great pleasure in welcoming Esther Hill as the new Principal of The Friends’ School and as a Board, could not be happier with the decision taken to appoint her.
The Board has also overseen the implementation of the L@F24+ Program and is heartened by the way it has commenced and been embraced by those involved. Like all change, issues have arisen as implementation proceeded but they have been, or are being, dealt with in an orderly and collaborative manner.
The acquisition of the Argyle Motor Lodge at the end of last year gives the School the opportunity to expand its physical footprint and was long on the Board’s wish list. We will now work to ensure that proper consideration and consultation are undertaken to enable the School to enjoy long-term benefits from that decision.
In other business, the Board has created a Policy and Procedures Subcommittee to oversee the consistency and relevance of the numerous documents that guide our organisation. In addition, a Cyber Risk Subcommittee has been established to give us further oversight of this critical area of the School's operations.
Looking forward, while the Board continues to oversee the implementation of its Strategic Priorities, it has also agreed to undertake a full Strategic Planning Process over the coming year to better inform our future operations.
Finally, we are pleased to welcome new Board members Michael Ashby, Tracy Bourne and Julia Jago to the Board and thank Siobhan Harphur for stepping in for a six-month period to fill a casual vacancy on the Board. For information on Board Members, please click here.
