Foundation Diggers Rest Children's Farm Excursion
Last Wednesday, 22nd of May, the Foundation students ventured down to the Diggers Rest Children’s Farm for our very first school excursion.
Our day was jam packed with lots of amazing animal encounters and farm activities!
First, we played in the playground while we took turns to have a pony ride on Nicky or Snowflake. Next, we went ponding. We didn’t find any creatures, but Harvey caught some rubbish! Then we went and met Ellie the Jersey cow and milked her. We also had a turn at churning butter which we tasted later on while we ate lunch.
The nursery was next. We got to cuddle rabbits and guinea pigs and hold baby chicks.
Next it was time for lunch, and we had definitely worked up an appetite by this point!
Following lunch, we went on a tractor ride to feed the alpacas and sheep and see the pigs and piglets. Wow, the pigs were stinky, but the piglets were super cute! After our tractor ride, we went in to see the noisy ducks. We even got to feed them too!
Then we headed off to the veggie patch for some seed planting. We planted a pea seed into a newspaper pot and the children got to take these home. We had a look at the chickens, roosters, turkeys and a peacock before we headed back to collect our things and head back to school.
