Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we prepare for Christmas one of our school traditions has been to run a Kris Kindle program. In every class the teacher will organise for the children to secretly draw out the name of a classmate from a hat. The children then commit to endeavouring to go out of their way to look after this person in small but special ways during Advent. They might simply ensure that they greet this person happily each day. They might invite them to play at recess or share their textas etc with them. In this way bringing a spirit of peace, joy and hope into our school.

The children are then asked to bring a small ($5) gift for this child to be placed under the class Christmas Tree. The gift should be wrapped and addressed as follows: “Merry Christmas ………” (insert the name of the child for whom the gift is intended) “from your K.K.”

Further to this “Spirit of Giving” I received the following in my email this morning, which I thought was worth sharing:

Dear Jack,

Thank you for your generous donation of $2,552.47 supporting the work of the Catholic Mission and giving life to what we do. Your kindness and faithfulness inspire us, and we are ever grateful for you.

Your support makes an incredible difference to the lives of tens of thousands of children, their communities and Church leaders in Australia and around the world who are impacted through Catholic Mission programs and the global work of the Pontifical Mission Societies.

Your school’s gift through Socktober helps to ensure that projects like the Maria Auxiliadora Clinic in Venilale, Timor-Leste can continue to support vulnerable children and their families with their health and wellbeing needs, thanks to the dedicated work of passionate missionaries like Sister Carolina and the Salesian Sisters.

We hope that you are inspired by the part you play in this missionary journey and the life-giving work that you help bring to be. To find out more ways to make an impact, visit catholicmission.org.au.

On behalf of missionaries around the world, thank you for your faith in action.

Sincerely,

Fr Brian Lucas

National Director

STUDENT REPORTS End of Year reports will be available via PAM from next Wednesday, December 13th.

GRADUATION Our Grade 6 class is preparing to Graduate from primary school and continue their educational journeys in secondary school in 2024.

Parents and carers should please note that the Graduation Ceremony will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 14th at the Jubilee Centre at Trinity College.

Our “Transition Day'' for all students is on Tuesday, December 12th. Year 6 students will be spending the day at their chosen secondary school, next year’s Foundation class will be with us from 11:30am until 1:00pm and all other students will spend this same hour and a half with their 2024 class and teacher.

Please note classes for 2024 will be announced on this day and are final. Putting classes together is incredibly complex and we always do our best to balance any and all competing needs, including the children’s own requests for which friends they might like to be in their class. If parents have any concerns that they need to let us know about, now is the time.

BEGINNING 2024 Some early notice, 2024 will begin for our teachers on Monday January 29th with training and preparation, however classes will not resume for the children until Wednesday, January 31st. Our staff will be working with the highly regarded Mathematics educator Michael Ymer on Tuesday January 30th. This is a fantastic opportunity for our staff and we are fortunate to have booked this much sought after presenter.

Please note Wednesday the 31st will be the first day for our new Foundation students as well. Foundation students will attend school until 1:00pm for this first week and a half.
