Respectful Relationships

Social and Emotional Learning @ Sunshine Heights Primary School

Welcome to Respectful Relationships, our guiding light in helping our students and community develop the critical social, emotional and positive relationship skills they will need to know, show and grow themselves and connect positively and respectfully with others. As part of our whole school focus on embedding respectful relationships across our community, we will be sharing here: vocabulary, ideas, information, themes, and strategies that connect to the Respectful Relationships curriculum to develop home-school connections.

Specialists Social & Emotional Focus

In our specialist classes, we seamlessly integrate Quad R's empowering themes into Physical Education, Spanish, Music, STEM, and Visual Arts, fostering a holistic approach to education. During dedicated weeks, our team leaders collaborate with wellbeing leaders to capture the essence of our students' exploration of Personal Strengths and Gender Identity.

In PE, students discover their physical prowess and teamwork skills, reinforcing the value of individual strengths. Spanish classes challenge stereotypes, encouraging students to appreciate diverse cultures and identities. In Music, the rhythm of collaboration harmonises with the melody of personal expression, nurturing emotional intelligence. STEM classes emphasise problem-solving and collaboration, highlighting the importance of resilience, reflection, relationships, and responsibility (RRRR).

Visual Arts become a canvas for self-discovery and expression, aligning with Quad R's focus on personal strengths. Our specialists cultivate an inclusive environment, addressing Gender and Identity through respectful discussions, challenging norms, and promoting diversity.

Through these immersive experiences, our specialists establish meaningful connections with students, creating a foundation for positive behaviour, academic achievement, and a deep understanding of the human experience.
