It is hard to believe that this is the final edition of the Clayfield College Collective for 2023. You may very well ask: where has the year gone?
In looking back, we can lament what was not meant to be. Alternatively, we can acclaim what we have learnt and what we have achieved. And what might that be?
This year has seen 'change' at the forefront in so many ways. Persistence, in my opinion, brought out the very best amongst the Clayfield College sporting community. The co-curricular sporting program thrived! We improved our mechanisms for delivering sport programs, embraced the challenges, accepted change, and enjoyed the journey.
I wish to acknowledge all students who have made the most of every co-curricular opportunity on offer. Our students have benefited from broadening their horizons, as opposed to narrowing their focus on one activity. Students have balanced their time and effort to achieve; and they are better for these diverse experiences.
I would also like to congratulate our Sport Leaders for 2024. They are excited about their respective roles and understand that each senior student will have the chance to contribute to college sport programs and connect with other students.
The way to do this is to accept the responsibility to do your best, to take the chance when opportunities or challenges arise, and to be responsible in everything you say and do. The sum of all these contributions, whether they be big or small, will be the measure of the 2024 Sport Leaders. I wish them all the best in their endeavours next year.
Although we finish the academic year shortly, I encourage students to stay connected, active, and engaged over the holiday break. I wish all involved in sporting endeavours, encouraging and rewarding experiences.
Thank you for your support during 2023. It has been another full and successful year for Clayfield College.
I wish you and your family an enjoyable and relaxing festive season. A new year awaits, and we know that means more change and challenges. I am confident Clayfield College sporting programs will continue to improve in response to any changes and pivot with enthusiasm. I look forward to reconnecting with you and launching new sporting initiatives and opportunities in 2024.
