Focus on Learning- Lake Keepit

Stage 2 and Stage 3- Robyn Wilson, Amanda Bartholomew, Sarah-Jane Canham, Michelle Cortis and Amy Rawsthorne

Day 1

We arrived at camp all excited to start. Our first activity was raft building. The students were put into groups and this activity was all about teamwork. The students all worked well together and lots of ideas were trialled. Cody's group had an advantage because he was an expert at tying knots. The day was very humid and the students were eager to get in the pool and trial their rafts. See below the photos of students building their rafts.

Then the students each had a turn at using the raft. Not all the rafts were successful but there was lots of laughter. See below

After our cool off in the pool. The next activity was slip and slide. This was a huge hit. The students first had to pull out the mat and get it set up. Then the fun part was sliding down that massive hill.

That night we had games in the big hall with the other schools also participating at the recreational camp.

Day 2

On Thursday our first activity was the Mud Run Challenge. Mrs Cortis joined the students in getting dirty. This challenge was all about getting their team over the line. It was not about how fast you completed the obstacles but how they helped each other.

The next activity that we participated in was canoeing. Each boat had 2 canoes joined together to form one big boat and each allowed 6 people to row. This was again about teamwork and learning which side needs to row at any given time. We rowed all the way across the lake and back again. It started to rain, the lake got choppy and the instructors boat wouldn't start but St Joseph's rallied together and we all got home wet, tired and exhilarated. A great afternoon.

Day 3

Yay our last day. Today we did archery. This was the most relaxing of the activities.

What a great 3 days. Thank you to all who attended. Thank you to Aimee for the beautiful photos.
