O.S.H.C. @ I.P.S.

14th of December 2023

Welcome to Ivanhoe Primary Outside School Hours Care.

Wominjeka to OSHC at Ivanhoe Primary School!

We would like to begin by acknowledging the

Wurrunjeri People of the Woi Wurrung people,

we pay our respect to the

past, present and future first peoples of our land.

The custodians of the Birrarung Marr (Yarra River) and the land which we know, learn and play on, as Outside School Hours Care.

Farewell!

This week we say good luck and good bye to two of our wonderful Educators, Ebony and Emma, as they leave us to further their careers. Ebony is going to be starting her teaching journey as a Graduate Teacher and Emma is continuing to work at her other jobs and complete her 5 year University degree!

All the best to these very valued team members, we, the staff, parents and the children will miss the two of you very much!

Re-enrolments for next year:

It is time to re-enrol your child/children for next year.

Smart Central Parent Portal/Login

https://www.smartcentral.net › session › login

Follow the prompts: * Application

                                        * New

                                        *Transfer information from previous account

                                        * Update contacts and Authorisations

                                        * Add documents that support your children

                                        * Hit Submit for approval!

It takes about 5-20 minutes to do, so make sure you have a nice quite space to do the re-enrolment. If you haven't enrolled before, it may take 5 minutes longer, as you have to find Smart central, parental login and enter all your details.

OSHC starts back for year 1-6 on the 31st of January 2024.

Foundation/Prep start the following week after testing, on the 7th February.

Most common re-enrolment problems are:

  1. C.R.N. number is incorrect for either Parent 1 or Child
  2. D.O.B. is incorrect is incorrect for either Parent or Child
  3. Some parents get their childrens' D.O.B.'s and C.R.N. numbers mixed up
  4. Don't change any details from C.C.S. as they can't process your application to receive the Subsidy

Please can we have as many applications as early as possible so I can cater enough staff for students, i.e. children: Staff.

Staff to children ratio required is 8:1 with disability 12:1 with diverse needs a regular ratio is 15:1. Next year we will be looking into getting funding to help support diversity, giving our current staff more shifts.

So if you have any information such as a letter from a Dr. about your child that you would like to be kept private but think having extra staff around to help out would be great, please let Lexi know. Or when you re-enrol, please upload a copy to Smart Central or send us a copy via email.

We have a Strategic Inclusion Plan and are in the midst of updating it. Any extra information you can add to your enrolment / re-enrolment will help OSHC to grow and plan for an even better than exceeding OSHC program!

Here is a video of what sort of support we are applying for.

The Childrens' Program:

It's party week at Outside School Hours Care this week and next, we have yummy treats for both breakfast and afternoon tea.

Instead of having one big party on the last day, we have one-two treats a day the food over the week, so everyone can have some sweet or savoury treats!

As always, we also have the most yummy Fruit and Vegetable platters!

Also take home treats have been extra festive this week and will continue until our last day next week on Wednesday 20th of December. 'Ours', looked even better than these pics off the inter-webs!

The Children have also been playing fun water games like, Antler Head Toss Game,      'Wet-head!' Not to mention all the regular games, Cricket, Basket ball, chess and tiggy.

The children have been making decorations, cards and gifts, like boxes with messages in them for under the xmas tree or for their friends.

To keep cool and to get into the Christmas spirit, the children enjoyed watching             'The Grinch', whilst engaging in their regular art and craft activities, and Lego building.

To maintain this Christmas Spirit, festive activities, including a bauble scavenger hunt, were also run during our before care sessions!

Take care and if we don't have a newsletter next week, please travel/stay safe and have a lovely holiday!

P.s. don't forget to re-enrol for 2024!

That's all for now,

See you soon everyone,

Triganin!
