God's Love and Care for All

Term 4, Week 7

Our school camp program for years 5 & 6 commenced this week with our year five students  and staff off to Don Bosco Camp at Safety Beach: Wednesday-Friday and next Week Year 6 are down at The Ranch on the Mornington Peninsula. School camps have always been such a special part of school and even back when I was at school, I still have fond memories of my year 6  Camp at Angelsea.  Attending school camps offers various benefits for students, contributing to their personal, social, and educational development and also an opportunity to develop

Teachers do an amazing job in preparing and organising the Camp Programs and we value the support of parents who support our Camp Program.  School camps are a perfect opportunity to challenge students to step out of their comfort zones, promoting personal growth and self-discovery. An added bonus may be some peace and quiet on the home front! Facing new situations and overcoming obstacles can boost confidence and resilience and also seeing staff out of their comfort zone with no hair dryer!

Our Camps also involve teamwork, collaborative activities a helping students develop essential interpersonal skills. Working together to solve challenges and achieve common goals fosters a sense of unity and cooperation among students. Camps also provide an opportunity for our students to interact with peers and staff in a different environment, which helps students improve their social skills. They learn to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and build positive relationships outside the structured school setting. That's why I always look forward to attending our camps.

Education Scholarship Award Ceremony: Each year the Hume Council provide a $1000 scholarship to individual schools, who each nominate a candidate worthy of such an award.  The scholarship is designed to support the education of promising and deserving Year Six students who live and attend a primary school within Hume City. This year our nomination was Nicholas Elyas from Year 6A. Nicholas has  been a students at Our Lady's since his enrolment in Prep seven years ago , and in that time he has been a credit to his family and peers in his attitude and commitment to his education and support of our school. Congratulations  Nicholas. Nicholas attended the award ceremony with his family and Miss Pozzebon and Miss Elia who represented our school at the ceremony.

Congratulations to House Team Kolbe (Red) who finished in first place after all points were tallied at our sports carnival last Friday. By all accounts it was a close race and as they say everyone was a winner on the day, but only one can take home the trophy. Congratulations to Georgia and Gavin the winning captains.

Special thanks to our Yr 5 Camp staff  for being teachers, parents and special friends to our 97 camp attendees- Sarah Asta, Claudia Audino, Natalie Galati,  Linda Glouftsis, Maeve Heenan, Catherine Hurford, Katey O'Keefe, Tam Phi, Anthony Whitty and the superwoman herself Tayla Vella. I did go down to check that they were behaving themselves- the staff that is !

Take Care and remember only 37 days till Christmas !!!
