Primary School

It is with great disbelief that I start the final newsletter for the 2023 school year. What a couple of busy weeks we have had. The students have been involved in lots of different events, activities and programs. These opportunities for our students would not be possible without the dedication and hard work from our Primary staff. Organising these events requires a lot of planning, preparation and effort and we thank them for always having the best interest of our students at heart.

Before we start the holidays though, I encourage all students to come and check out lost property. There are many jumpers, drink bottles and hats looking for their rightful owner.

Year 5 Leadership Speeches

On Thursday 30 November, 32 nominated Year 5 students completed the daunting task of presenting their leadership speech in front of their peers. The students should be congratulated on the way they confidently conducted themselves. They were well-prepared, and it was evident that students had put a lot of thought into their speeches. The 2023 Year 6 leadership group will be announced at the Primary Presentation Assembly on Tuesday 12 December at 1:30pm in the Resource Centre. The students will be introduced to the school community early next year at the Commencement Assembly where they will recite their School Leadership Pledge, formalizing their leadership position.

PS Assembly

On Friday 1 December, the Primary School community connected at the final Primary Assembly for the year, where we were treated to the Year 6 video presentation which highlighted the students’ recent Year 6 camp experience. Congratulations to Jesse Nye for not only recording all the footage, but also for putting this great video together. It was evident that the Year 6 students had a wonderful time whilst in Canberra.

I would like to congratulate Addie Farr-Jones and Jesse Nye, our Co-Curricular Captains, for confidently running the Assembly. We enjoyed some beautiful solo performances from Darcy Knowles-Mulholland on piano and Oliver Knight on guitar. We were treated to a Medley in a Brazilian Bossa Nova style by Jesse Nye, Darcy Cordner, Keisha Hall and Harry Nichol, who all participate in the Step Up program, led by Mr Kevin Kiely. For more information about our popular Step Up programs or any other music programs, please contact Mrs Fiona Gibbs.

We welcomed Anne from the Campaspe Regional Library, who visited us to talk about some great initiatives our local library has organised which included the exciting Big Summer Read.

Congratulations to the students below who received a Core Value Award for consistently displaying one or more of the School’s Core Values and Motto. Keep up the great work!

Year 2 Sleepover

Summary by Anastasia Attalh (2A)

On Friday we had the Year 2 sleepover. It was going to be fun. Firstly, we played games before being put into our house teams. Then we would compete in an obstacle course. While we were doing it, we got sprayed with water by the teachers. Meninya won all the rounds.

Secondly, we ate pizza. I had two pieces of Cheese pizza and two pieces of garlic bread. The other pizza options were Hawaiian, Peperoni, Meat lovers and Ham & Cheese. We also had a Zooper Dooper and a choice of Tiny Teddies or Sweet and Salty popcorn. I chose popcorn. Lastly, we started watching the Mighty Ducks. Miss Delmenico changed it to the Bad Guys. Then when the movie finished, everyone brushed their teeth and went to bed.

I really liked the sleepover, but the lights outside kept on flashing which made it tricky to sleep. Overall, I liked it. I would like to thank all the teachers for coming to the sleepover and giving up their time.

Orientation Day

It was great to welcome current and new students at our Orientation Day on Tuesday 5 December. Students all stepped up into their 2024 class with their 2024 peers and classroom teacher. This day is an integral part of the preparation for the 2024 academic year and staff planned for an enjoyable and informative day with lots of ‘getting to know you’ activities.

Year 6 Graduation Dinner

On Thursday 7 December, our Year 6 students enjoyed their Graduation Dinner at the Rich River Golf Club. It was a wonderful evening where students and their families enjoyed a 2-course meal, followed by the formal events. To top off the night, DJ Martin from Party Inc got everyone involved and boogying on the dancefloor. We would like to thank all the staff and parent volunteers who ensured the night was enjoyed by all.

Primary Christmas Concert

We would like to welcome all our Moama Anglican Grammar families to our upcoming Primary Christmas Concert (previously Carols on the Lawn). This concert provides a great opportunity for our families to connect with each other whilst enjoying performances from all our Primary students. More information is provided on the flyer below.

Presentation Assemblies

The Primary Presentation Assembly has been scheduled for Tuesday 12 December, starting at 1:30pm in the Resource Centre. Formal uniform is to be worn on this day and PDHPE and sport classes will be modified to suit this change. Parents are invited to attend this important event and in addition, the assembly will be livestreamed for parents to view. These formal assemblies are a great opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate students’ achievements.

Celebration Day

On the last day this year, Wednesday 13 December, students will be involved in the annual celebration day activities. Students are able to attend school on this day in their Sport Uniform. Our Year 6 students are working together to develop a range of rotational tabloid sports for all students to enjoy.
