From the Deputy Principal

Christmas Wishes and Online Safety for the Festive Season

As I write my final newsletter article as Deputy Principal, I am reminded of the honour and privilege I have had to serve as Deputy Principal, and I am also excited to begin a new chapter as I take on the role of Associate to the Principal - Head of Staff. This transition brings with it fresh opportunities to contribute to the growth and success of our wonderful School, and I am eager to embark on this journey with your continued support. I look forward to working with our new Deputy Principals.

As we approach the season of Christmas, I want to extend my heartfelt wishes to each and every one of you. May this festive season bring you joy, laughter, and precious moments with your loved ones.

As well as being a special time with family and friends, there is also much free time to be enjoyed by our children during these holidays. This can be a great opportunity for down time after the busy school year but for those with older children, supervision of your child's use of technology can be challenging, especially during these longer Christmas holidays. To assist you in navigating your child’s technology use over this holiday period, I am pleased to remind you of the Moama Anglican Grammar Online Safety HUB. This valuable resource is designed to provide guidance and support, ensuring a safe and enriching online experience for your children. Our School Counsellors wrote an excellent article about this in our October newsletter. I have included the extract from their article about the Online Safety Hub (that you all have access to) below but would encourage you to go back to read the full article if you haven’t already. The Online Safety Hub can support our school community by providing practical insights and advice directly from internationally renowned Online Safety & Digital Wellness Experts.

Here is the access link to Moama Anglican Grammar’s Online Safety Hub:

What does the Online Safety Hub Offer?

  • Get advice on the latest Apps & games.
  • Learn more about online safety topics, including:
    • A parent’s guide to online bullying.
    • A parent’s guide to screen time.
    • A parent’s guide to sexting and nudes.
    • A parent’s guide to gaming.
    • A parent’s guide to pornography.
    • A parent’s guide to online perpetrators.
    • A parent’s guide to online contacts and relationships.
  • Get help with social media incidents.

On a different note, just today I was reminded of the empathetic and caring community we are all part of. In speaking briefly to one of our wonderful P&F parents this morning I was informed that we have 50 Christmas Hampers to give to those less fortunate this Christmas. This has happened because of the generous hamper donations of our Moama Anglican Grammar families – thank you.

It is with immense gratitude that we thank you, our parents and carers, for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your child(ren) in 2023 and beyond. I look forward to the continued collaboration and success that the future holds for our school community. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with love, warmth, and cherished moments.
