SchoolCouncil Report

School Council held our final meeting for the 2024 year yesterday.  I wanted to start by thanking our Council members Warwick Mihaly, Briony O’Keeffe, Alison Knott, Henry Tinsley, Marcus Lau, Rebecca Kelly, Michelle Barnett, Andrew Schnaider, Hazell Opoz, Jane Bilby, Rachel Corben Sam Guerra, Millie Holden,  and most recently Matthew Ferguson for the volunteering of your significant time and expertise over the year.  It’s been a pleasure to work alongside you.

Below is a short summary of the outcomes from the meeting last night.

Team Kids Fee Review

As per our contract with Team Kids, they are permitted to review their fees.  Team Kids have proposed an increase of 4.4% to fees to start from the first day of Term 1, 2025.  Taking multiple factors into consideration, School Council approved this increase.  Team Kids will be in contact with families utilising the service in the coming weeks.  Please reach out to them directly if you have any questions regarding the service.

School Performance Report

Matthew took Council through the School Performance Report, and we’d like to congratulate all staff, students and the supporting community on great results.

2025 Key Dates

Key dates for Council and Committee meetings, student free days as well as the music program were approved (subject to a couple of confirmations).  The school will be publishing these in due course.

School Building Project

The building project continues to gain momentum, and Council is supporting the school leadership as they commence operational planning to start preparing for what will be a disruptive, yet exciting 12 months for our school from next year.  We’re really confident that through considered leadership that the inevitable disruption will be at a minimum for students as the works commence. Thank you in particular to the working group who continues to engage with the Architects and VSBA.

You will have seen Heritage Victoria signs around the school, the plans for the building project can be seen by scanning the QR code on those signs.  If you have any questions on this please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself, Henry, Warwick, Jane, Trish, Matthew or Stephanie.

Fundraising

The 2025 Great Lee Street Fete is around the corner!  Thank you so much to our fundraising and fete committee for all the time committed so far, there really is some heavy lifting already happening.  As the biggest fundraiser for our little school, supporting operational costs, cost of camps and putting money aside in a new playground fund, a successful fete really does take a village!

Check out the fete section of the newsletter for key roles to be filled - in particular our BBQ Boss.

Farewell and thank you to our Grade 6 cohort and families

As this is the last Council update for 2025, we wanted to take the opportunity to say farewell to the Grade 6 cohort. You’ve been fantastic representatives of the school, and role models for the years that follow you. Best of luck for your next adventure!

And thank you to the families and carers for your contribution to the school over the last 7 years, especially to those who are finishing your time with CNPS. We’ll see you at the Fete!

Wishing you a smooth end of term and fun summer holidays.

Rebecca Slater, on behalf of school council
