New Digital School Sign

Last week an exciting installation took place with the arrival of our electronic signboard, positioned at the front of the school on Simpson Street. We look forward to using this new feature to keep our community informed with important updates, upcoming events, and celebrations happening at Buninyong Primary School. Be sure to keep an eye out as we begin to share more through this new digital platform!

Year 6 Transition Days

Our year 6 students have their transition days happening over the next couple of weeks, where they will be spending some time (usually a full day) at their chosen secondary school. This assists them to prepare for moving on from primary school and provides them with an opportunity to get a head start on understanding the different challenges that attending high school brings. It is an exciting time, and we wish all of our students the best on these days and look forward to hearing all about it when you return!

Supporting Students' Transitions into 2025

As we approach the end of the school year, it's important to help students feel confident and prepared for the new challenges that come with transitioning into a new grade. This time can be filled with excitement but also uncertainty for some children. Here are a few tips for families to support smooth transitions:

Talk About Change: Encourage open conversations about the upcoming year. Ask your child how they are feeling about moving up to a new grade and discuss any concerns they may have.

Routine and Preparation: Begin discussing how routines might look different next year and how to establish good habits early on. Your child will have a new teacher or be in a new space, start building excitement for these changes.

Social Stories and Support: For children who may need extra support, especially those with additional learning needs, social stories can help them understand what to expect. Our school offers transition support plans to help students adjust, and we're here to assist with any concerns.

By working together, we can ensure that all students have a positive and successful transition into the new year.

SPARK TANK - READY SET GROW GREENHOUSE PROJECT

We’re excited to announce that Buninyong Primary School was awarded $6,000 at the recent SparkTank event! This fantastic funding will go directly to our Ready Set Grow program, meaning we’ll soon be building a brand-new greenhouse. Our students will now have year-round opportunities to grow plants, learn about sustainability, and explore how we can all contribute to a greener future.

A huge thank you to Community Bank Buninyong and everyone who cheered us on at the event. The greenhouse will provide a fun, hands-on way for students to dive into science, sustainability, and environmental learning. We’re also looking forward to strengthening our connection with the wider community as the project develops.

We can’t wait to get started and see both our garden and student's flourish!

Bunjil Awards

Congratulations to the following students who received a Bunjil Award at the last assembly.

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind.

Well done! All of our recipients enjoyed a hot chocolate or zooper dooper with a principal.
