And now a word from

Mrs Richards...

At Parkdale Primary School, we strongly believe in the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” A vital part of that village is our parent community. When parents actively participate in school activities, it creates a stronger bond between home and school, benefiting students, teachers, and the entire community.

Why Parent Involvement Matters:

When parents help at school, they contribute in countless ways:

Enhanced Learning Experiences - Parent volunteers in the classroom or on excursions and camps provide extra support, making learning more interactive and engaging for students.

Stronger Community Spirit - By working alongside teachers and staff, parents create a positive and supportive environment for everyone.

Role Modelling - When children see their parents participating, it reinforces the value of education and community involvement.

Ways to Get Involved

There are many opportunities for parents to make a difference, whether it’s a small or large commitment:

Classroom Support - Helping with reading, changing over of books or supporting classroom writing activities.

Event Assistance - Volunteering to help with special days such as sports days, special lunch days, excursions or school camps, Friday Garden Club, Second Hand Uniform sales, Book Club Distribution

Committee Membership - School Council, PPA (Parents’ Association)

Parent Representative Program – volunteering to be the parent representative for your child’s class

Social Interactions- participating in extra curricular social activities organised by Parent Reps for students and for parents

The Benefits Are Mutual

Parents who get involved often find it personally rewarding. It’s a chance to connect with other families, understand more about their child’s school experience, and see firsthand the positive impact they make.

Together, we can continue building a nurturing, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment for our children. If you’d like to help, we welcome you to reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office. Every contribution, big or small, is valued and appreciated!

Let’s work hand in hand to make our school the best it can be! Watch out early next year for information on how to become involved!
