Student Awards Presentation Evening
On Tuesday evening 3 December, the 2024 College Awards Presentation Evening took place. It was a well-attended event, with around 90 students recognised for their achievements within and beyond the Academic Program, as well as Music, Debating, the College Production, Leadership, Vocational Major and Innovation.
We welcomed special guest speaker, Bishaal Gurung (Dux - Class of 2022) who is studying Medicine at Monash University. He shared some wonderful pieces of advice for aspiring students and reinforced the benefits of the holistic education offered at St Bede’s College. We were also fortunate to have student performances, including Dean F (2024 McCristal Vice-Captain) with a Drum Solo and Oran J (Year 11) with his prepared speech from the Br Quentin Public Speaking Competition.
As a culmination of the 2024 school year, celebrating many successes is one of the more fitting ways to conclude. We congratulate each and every student and look forward to celebrating many more great performances in the future.

College Science Fair
This November, we held our first ever Science Fair which was inspired by students who have a passion for Science and enjoy the chance to share their knowledge and ideas with others. The Fair aimed to inspire and prepare the next generation of innovators and leaders to actively contribute to the Science community.
Our students in Years 7 and 8 were invited to present their idea, theory, poster, model or experiment to the judges for feedback. This experience gave students a valuable learning experience and opportunity to make a positive impact on peers, as well as empowering themselves. There were also prizes up for grabs for the Top 3 submissions.
Congratulations to our First Prize winners, Year 8's Luke W, Charlie P and Sebastian F for their working model of the movement of wind over a racecar. They are the proud recipients of the Peter Lister Science Fair Award. Peter was a St Bede’s College student who was passionate about science and the environment. He completed a Bachelor of Environmental Science at RMIT, worked for the EPA where he made laws that protect Port Phillip Bay. In 2020, Peter lost his battle with brain cancer and always held fond memories of our College.
Well done to Krithick P (Year 7) who won Second Prize with his creative and fascinating 'Moving Bug', made with wood and wires that can move and sense objects; and to Third Place and Children's Choice Award Winner, Kiaan S (Year 8) for his informative Physics poster and excellent presentation skills.
Our thanks go to students'families for their encouragement and to our wonderful judges, Elena and Nicolas, for their time and feedback. Both judges can’t wait to return next year to see what the students can come up with.
