Year 6 Mathematics Boot Camp

Over the past four weeks, St Norbert College has been full of excitement as the Maths Boot Camp helped Year 6 students get ready for Year 7. This program is designed to strengthen their basic math skills, build confidence, and introduce them to the fun learning environment at St Norbert College.

The camp included problem-solving workshops, and interactive sessions to make learning enjoyable. The program not only helped students improve their math skills but also made them feel more prepared for high school.

One of the highlights was the parent workshop, where parents could see how the Boot Camp works and learn how to support their children’s learning at home. This teamwork between parents and teachers helps students do their best.

The students had positive feedback about their experience: 

“We enjoyed the Boot Camp sessions as the teacher explained the topics well. We liked the Bamboozle and Daily 10. We would like to thank the student helpers for handing out the workbooks. The class was surprisingly enjoyable. We liked the group activities. Mathematics was made more straightforward and more challenging. I learnt mathematics concepts that I did not learn before. We enjoyed the daily math challenge.”

A big thank you goes to the amazing teachers who made the Boot Camp possible: Mr Hay, Mr Sligar, Mr Levy, Mr Daley, Mr Turkich, and M. Lim. Their hard work, enthusiasm, and support created a positive experience for all students.

The Maths Boot Camp has once again been a great way for incoming Year 7 students to get ready for their new school year. We can’t wait to see them grow and succeed at St Norbert College.
